Hey Robbie, you sound like you're pretty young.. Yes we did get popped in school, but it was because it was the last option. Back then if you kept giving a teacher a lot of problems she would tell the coach and then he would handle it... You're talking about a teacher with over 20 kids in a room with a kid don't want mind or listen. So if the kid was an athlete she would contact the coach and he would handle it. Now was this a fear tacit? Yes.. As ice stated above some kids need that.

This is about as false as they get... I have seen horrible parents with good kids and I have seen good parents with horrible kids. You do your best to raise your kids the best way possible, but unfortunately when they get older they have to choose their own path.

Again, Ice it on spot.. As a parent you have to try different ways to discipline your children, some ways work on one child but maybe not the other.

First of all you have 2 different scenarios.. A woman is an adult and no man has the right to put his hand on any adult..

I know lots of people who grew benefiting from that and a lot of them are professionals... One being Isiah Thomas who stated if it were not for his mom doing what she did he wouldn't be here.. Again ice and wfu guys were right on point when they stated you have to also look at demographics, income, etc...

According to your theory your nephew is destine to be the same as his father and grand father and he will be a horrible kid.. But you knowing the family he has on his mom side know that's not true... It's like saying my father smoked cigarettes so I will smoke or if my father was an alcoholic then I will too... Not true at all.. AP made a huge mistake, but he also beat the odds of a bad father to be successful..

This is your belief which is fine, but Ice stated it perfectly

Corporal punishment should be used as the last resort....

Kids are smart and when they get around other kids they learn new tactics..
My example for you is the Andy Griffith clip I posted... My oldest son couldn't give a crap about me taking stuff from him or punishing him.. Corporal punishment worked on him...

My daughter on the other hand swore you killed her when you took stuff away from her...

    Same parents two different kids...

He's right - the Vikings didn't want Peterson gone. They were forced into it for PR reasons (right or wrong).

I can't figure out why these players think it's a good idea, in the current climate, to say anything about disciplining their kids. It seems to reek of a lack of basic common sense - just stay silent.

    Major,

I totally agree with you... No matter how they answer that question it will come off wrong and piss somebody off...

    No win situation.

It's the NFLPA's job to represent their members, no matter what they do.

Hmm, I wonder if they will cop a plea for a slap on the wrist in order to serve a 6 game suspension this season (with time served being applied).

If he wants to get back on the field any time soon, he'll work out a plea deal of some kind.

I expect it will require treatment, counseling and education as well as community service. I don't have a problem with that.

I don't think Adrian Peterson is an inherently evil person, I do think that he genuinely doesn't know any better. While ignorance is not an excuse, ignorance is fixable. We don't need to completely destroy the guy's life, he just needs to get his life together before he gets back on the field.

Perhaps what's common: (1) lack of education and (2) parents who disciplined them physically.

It isn't a lack of education, as the players speaking up have gone to college.

Perhaps it is because they believe that what Adrian Peterson did isn't wrong and don't want him to be rail roaded?

There are many people that believe that a parent should be able to punish their child with a switch if necessary.

There are studies that show that it is very common in the South, in Baptist/Evangelical households and with African Americans.

Personally, I don't give a rats a$$ what someone in Minnesota thinks about my parenting skills.
