[Cable TV] FX Presents Guillermo Del Toro's 'The Strain'

Last night episode was dull and forgetful.

Nothing Happened. Any time this show tries to do some sort of heartfelt storyline it underwhelms and blotches completely. Pretty disappointed after last week's episode.

Only 3 more episodes of the season and I hope the story progresses rapidly because the pace has been up and down all season long.

 

As far as what last night's show was (primarily, a flashback sequence), I thought it was pretty good. But, as far as advancing the storyline, it didn't do much and felt more like a filler episode.

Nothing happened? We found out what happened to his ex-wife. You can't have non-stop action.

So I think she becomes like the Former Nazi or like the People that saved the lawyer's kids. She seems to have retained alot of free will.

I dont understand why you guys spoiler stuff that doesn't need to be spoilered. How can it be a spoiler if you are just explaining what happened in an episode that has already aired? I also dont think it counts as a spoiler if you are predicting what will happen in the future.

Exactly what I was thinking. When I was watching I was wondering why we were following this chick if she was obviously going to turn after the worm burrowed into her eye. So I guess the Master chooses his subordinates. Why did he choose Eph's ex-wife? Does the Master know that Eph is closing in?

Ive read a lot of reviews complaining about the pacing of the show and I don't get that complaint. I think the pacing is just right.

 

I got an infraction for not posting spoiler tags because I forgot to say it was my prediction in the breaking bad finale thread.

You can never too careful.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I can careless about his son and wife. So far they add nothing to the general plot. They just seem like backstory for F with all the cliches narrative.

 

Same here, last episode sucked. don't care if they turn into vampires or into chickens

 

Also, was I the only one that instantly wanted to the kid to die a painful death?

Lizard people haven't been referenced since they've shown up, wonder when they'll pop up again, can't be that many episodes left in the season....

 

There are those viewers who are sensitive about the content.

The direction of the story, storyline has already been set with the three books Chuck Hogan and Del Toro wrote.

I probably know too much and won't tell or spoiler too much.

And unless the creators decide to go in another direction, I think the series won't deviate from the books apart from some added footage, details.

 

I am pretty confident those were good guy vampires and not lizard people judging from the armor+helmets that shielded them from sunlight.

 

After starting this show, I went ahead and read the Dark Horse comics of the same name, and they ruined a lot of the surprise element to the plot for me. For my enjoyment's sake, I'm hoping the story will deviate more from the comics and novels..

they are huge factors as the story moves forward

 

Season Finale was pretty sweet. The Gus storyline is going to be awesome and I'm very intrigue in what their going to do with Gus and the Vampire Hunters.

The main storyline was predictable knowing there was going to be a season 2 but the action sequence in Bolivar's apartment made up for it.

On to the Walking Dead....

 

Yeah, fairly solid season all around. Looking forward to see where it goes next season.

 

That kid is a terrible actor

 

Gus, The Old Man and Vitaly come off as the best Characters

Eph sucks. . . His character is so full of ***** and arrogance and doesn't know anything.
He is an incredible jerk too.

The Kid and the Hispanic lady are forgetable . .. .as is the Vodka Drenched Hacker chick

i thought it was kind of gay how the master got away like that.

the old guy also was more concerned with getting his line in than finishing the master off. he had him right there and it should have been off with his head. it was like he was waiting for the sun to kill it instead and, then when it didn't, he was like "oh the sun didn't kill it". was it supposed to shrivel up and die instantaneously or something? it was like being burned but it had that long cape on that protected most of it except the head part basically...and it just scurries off to find a dark place.

that kind of pissed me off and I feel kind of ripped off. felt like they only did that b/c it would be over in one season if the master died I imagine. lol

so, until the next master battle I guess...
