A black actress who appeared in “Django Unchained” was handcuffed and detained for kissing her white husband — because police allegedly assumed she was a prostitute.

Daniele Watts burst into tears after she was handcuffed by Los Angeles police in Studio City on Saturday for kissing her husband, Brian Lucas, in public.

Racism is dead and reverse racism is a bigger issue. Need more facts.

Because California isn't East Germany? She was under no obligation to do so.

    That's not the point.

She was offended that they asked her for ID in the first place.

She was standing up for not only herself but for people like her and was willing to get detained for it.

This kind of crap gets me soooo angry. Nothing ever happens to the police for doing bad stuff.

    show.your.f***in.ID.

Will never understand how people cry about being treated bad by police, but didn't show their ID when asked to, which would've resolved everything after one minute.

Why does she need to show an ID? She didn't do anything wrong. It is like if a white person goes into a black neighborhood and the locals start yelling at the white folks to show them their Iphones. I'm sure you would get tired of that very quickly.

The reason you don't understand is probably because nobody you know, much less yourself, has ever been questioned by the police for not breaking a law. Your lack of understanding doesn't make something factual.

To resolve the matter. The police should never do anything unless they are positive something illegal is happening?

It's just odd how often they suspect something illegal is happening when the person is black. So very odd, strangely odd.... what could possibly be the cause? We'll never know.

I probably would not have shown my ID either.

WTF? And even if she was a prostitute kissing a guy on the streets, why are they even bothering them. Can you imagine if he had pulled out a hundred to give her to pick up their dry cleaning...cops probably call for backup

No question that there is underlying racism there, but I've been questioned by police while doing nothing wrong before, so it can happen to white people too.

They just wanted her to reach for something in her pocket so they could shoot her and say they thought she was reaching for a gun.

She shouldn't have had to show her ID. It's just wrong.

But I once dated a half German/half Filipino girl who looks more like 100 % Asian and she was constantly approached by police officers in plain clothes on the train (in Germany) who made her show her ID (I guess to check if she had a residence permit). Never once happened to me. But if it were to happen, I would probably also ask why the hell are you asking and would probably be mad.

I don't think it's that it happens to white people too, it's that it happens a heck of a lot more to minorities. You can look at the stop and frisk statistics in New York for example.
