Hit level 20 earlier today. What's the best way to farm the purple/blue equipment for +light stats? Supposedly you need +light eq to level past level 20. I want to run the missions that give us strange coins so I can buy some exotic gear.

I saw someone named Clutch_City_713 last night. I completed the level 22 weekly heroic raid with my buddy a minute ago and it's torture. He's level 24, I'm level 21 and the other guy was level 20. Lev 24 ended up with 230 kills, I finished with 93 and the last guy had like 40 kills. It's probably too late for me to gather enough strange coins for the exotic gauntlets Xur is selling for 13 coins. Those are some nice gloves, the stats are perfect for sungslinging warlocks. I barely get any blue drops and still waiting for a legendary (purple?) item to drop.
I'm not sure what you're doing that you don't get blue drops. I get them extremely often at 21 (in fact all of my items are blue except my sniper, I'd say most at 20 have a lot of blue). I spoke with a level 24 who had 2 exotics, and he apparently got them both at level 20 in the rumble playlist (he wasn't in first place or anything).
Spent a long time battling Phogoth the Untamed yesterday - that was a tough boss battle, even with a friend.
I have some blue items now. I played control for a couple of hours. I'm on a quest for purple and yellow items. Weird thing happened to my friend last night. The bounty hunter gave him a gold (exotic) quest. I was surprised that he gave up exotic quests in the first place, but he got one. After we completed the bounty, it showed that he would receive a exotic pistol. He turned in the bounty and he said he didn't get anything. He checked the postmaster, bounty guy and his chest, nothing.
That sucks...sometimes that stuff goes to the "special order" person. Also make sure not to dismantle any rare items, there will eventually be a yellow bounty to dismantle 10 rare items. I want to get to 26 so I can raid tomorrow, but I definitely don't have 5 other people to raid with at this point (on PS4 anyway). That and I still need to level up a fair bit; I'm a sliver from 22 but who knows when I'll find an item I like. I'm at 3 strange coins, I only need a billion more before friday woo. Side note (completely unrelated): **** Gamespot and the other reviewers bombing this game. It's not the best game, but 6.5 -- really? Then why is everyone playing?

I think we're all spoiled, or people really enjoy complaining and general cynicism. Also, if I see one more article claiming that Destiny costs $500 million to make or it's the most expensive game ever created I'm going to pull all of my hair out. "Journalism" has become the most laughable **** these days, you can't trust even normal news outlets for accuracy.
