If Cruz is sincere, he's sincerely delusional.

Ted Cruz is a calculated personality designed to incite a visceral response just like FAUX.
It keeps people in economic line with paranoia over social issues. Income equality and taxation, banking regulation, environmental regulation, the social safety net, net neutrality, and real personal freedoms actually mean more to the majority of those people but you can distract them from that with race, religion and jingoism.

I know he is smart. Good grades in a good law school and all. I just don't think he is likeable fortunately. Doesn't seem like a nice guy to have a beer, just not capable of playing a nice guy so this limits his electability beyond the most right wing Tea party types. He may indeed be playing to the Kochs and his ignorant base of primarily right Southerners.

He could be appointed to a national post by a rightist president.

What do you think Ted's goal is? What's the point of this calculated personality?

I'm not disagreeing with your characterization of him, just trying to figure out his end game.

    I think he is smart.
    - He knows that in the current political environment, there is no accountability for anything you say or claim. You can always change your position in the future and not suffer any political backlash
    - He knows that his constituents will believe and follow anything that he says regardless if the claims are factual or not
    - In most of his interviews, he is very good in NOT answering the question directly

Neither was obama's. And seems like his mother was too young and not living in the states long enough to confer citizenship. Frankly, it may well have been statutory rape as his mother was likely under 18 when she had sex with the man from Africa who was married to another woman back in Africa. So Obama senior may have been guilty of statutory rape (obmas mom was under 18) as well as polygamy given he married more than one woman. All that said, no one really seems to care about such "scandals" anymore. Marriage doesn't mean anything to liberals, they redefine the meaning of marriage or statutory rape as they see fit. Florida state Qb should be in jail too. Kobe should be in jail. Adrian Peterson and Ray rice should be in jail. No one cares about morality anymore. Anything goes.

Are you an elitist Yankee? Seems you are condescending to southerners who value freedom over an oppressive federal government.

You should review statutory rape laws and citizenship conferring requirements. Since when has a mom that was born in the US and spent her whole in the life not been "living in the states long enough" to confer citizenship? Do you just make up your own rules and laws? Weird for someone b****ing about "anything goes".

Based on my understanding of the law at the time, obama's mom had not lived in the us long enough in order for HER citizenship alone to carry on to her son. Now, I'm not claiming Barry was born in Kenya and have no interest in a pointless birther debate. And it so happens that the us did annex Hawaii for its strategic military location despite the native population wanting independence. [Much like Palestine wants independence from Russia or Poland wanted independence or Ukraine wants independence or southern states did not want to be ruled by northern states in the war of northern aggression, but I digress]

Point is, here was the law if you care to educate yourself on why my comments were accurate, although not understood by you:

His adulterous father was an alien, a citizen of Kenya, his mother had not lived five years in the us after the age of sixteen.

Your understanding of the law is incorrect. Here is the law, effective as of 1952:

    http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1401

One of these two scenarios applies, depending if you want to try to argue Obama was born outside of the US. In either case, the mom's citizenship confers over:

The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:

    (a) a person born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof;

    ...

    (g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years

The law you refer to only was relevant prior to 1952.

The law I cited was effective in 1952 and later. The law you cited was enacted in 1986 well after Barry was born.

The notes section from your link states:

So the two years was effective in 1986.

As of 1961, she would have been required to live five years in the US (either from age 14 or 16, not sure when that changed - but either way she had not reached that threshold).

Assuming for the sake of silliness that Obama was born outside of the United States and the marriage between Obama's mother and father was not void because of Obama Sr.'s prior marriage, then for children born in wedlock after 12/24/1952 and prior to 11/14/1986 the requirement is that the one citizen parent must have been physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for 10 years, 5 of which were after age 14. So, if he were to have been born outside of the U.S. and if the marriage was valid, I guess he would not have met the requirements for acquired citizenship.

If however, the marriage was not valid and he had been born out of wed-lock outside of the United States to a U.S. citizen mother after 12/24/1952 and his mother was physically present in the U.S. or outlying possessions for a continuous period of 1 year at some point prior to the birth of the child, then he would have acquired citizenship at birth as per INA 309(c).

You have to make a lot of assumptions to get to the point where he could hypothetically not be a citizen. You need to assume the marriage was valid when it likely was not, and you need to assume he was born outside of the United States or its outlying possessions.

The South lost the War of Yankee Aggression as you were probably taught to refer to the Civil War. Get over it.:p

You don't have to make a lot of assumptions. Two is not a lot. 1) he would have to be born outside the us. Granted this assumption may not be true. But it is still simply one asumption. 2) his mother had to be married. This one appears to be true. I suppose there could be some question as to the validity of the marriage given the father was already married in another country. But ann Dunham or Stanley Dunham or Anna Obama or S. Anne Sutero or soutero or any of the other names she went by had not been in the us for five years since age 14 given she had sex with a 24 year old African she met while studying Russian when she was only 17 and then gave birth when she was 18.

So the fact that Stanley Dunham was an American born in Kansas is not in and of itself sufficient to confer citizenship onto Barry. You have to assume that a) he was born in the us, or b) she was not legally married.

    Never.

You may not like Ted Cruz, but you don't need to refer to his base as ignorant right (sic) Southerners. Do you always refer to anyone with different values than you as ignorant? Seems rather rude, just like an arrogant elitist Carpet bagging Yankee.
