issue is moreso recovery with nash. dude apart from being made of glass in recent years said he could play elite for 1 game in a week as opposed to 82 games a year.

That's just the thing. When healthy Nash is much better than Lin, but if you know one of your starters is old and injury prone, to retain continuity and consistency of your team performance, you should leave him on the bench. I think that's Byron Scott is debating as well. He's old school, so he wants to give the veteran the nod, but if Nash will be in for 2 weeks then out for 2 months, may as well let Lin start.

    lo

I would have started Lin also and bring Nash off the bench. It is looking like they want to use him as Houston did. Wrong move and it is unimaginative coaching.

:D I'm sure he could still jog. Just don't know how long he can do it.

I don't see why anyone would be shocked about this nor why they would think it could cause some hysteria. Nash is a HOFer and Byron Scott is an old school guy that pefers vets over young guys if I remember correctly. It isn't like it's a demotion for Lin, he's on the bench where he was in Houston.

well at least you right out said what bothered you about him. I commend you for that even though I disagree with everything you said. At least you're not hiding it.

Also, does this mean I can now make jokes about black athletes that like to show off their smarts? I figure since we are attributing things to people even though we have never heard anything like that.

McHale is worried because he knows Canaan can't defend and Johnson most likely won't be ready either. We sucked most of the time when Beverley was injured because there wasn't a competent PG defender behind Lin after Brooks was traded. Brooks was a bad defender also but he wasn't as bad as Canaan who had a defrtg of 109.7 compared to the team defrtg of 103.1

During Summer League the opposing PG was the leading scorer for their team something like 4 of the last 5 games. We're going to suck if Canaan is our backup PG.

I'm pullin' for the guy. His story is pretty unique. I wish he were still part of the Rockets roster, but at a lower price tag. Yeah I know, I think most people would agree with my "duh" statements.

I just don't think a guy who is going to play ~18 minutes a night is going to be that much of a negative to the team. Sure if Bev gets hurt we are going to be in trouble, but you could say the same thing about most starters on most teams.

Maybe I'm too optimistic when I say I think whoever gets the backup point guard minutes can be ~75% of what Lin was for us and over 18 or so minutes a game I don't think that is some huge drop off. And like I said earlier I think Daniels will be better at what we wanted Lin to be good at as the off ball guard alongside Harden.

Lin was a bad defender at SG position. I can't imagine how much worse Daniel is going to be at the 2 position. Offensively he is a great fit next to Harden, but defensively unless Harden really pick his D up, I don't see those 2 co-exist. When Harden goes to the bench, do you honestly believe Daniel can do much with Bev creating for him?

Given said that, it may be possible offensively let Harden be the PG, Daniel at 2, along with Ariza at 3, providing him a lot of space to operate. Defensively let Daniel cover the PG, Ariza at 2, and Harden at 3 or 4.

Or you know, morey would read your post and realize how all of those problems could be solved if he simply went and got a real pg

Morey doesn't have to read my post to know that!

Jason Terry trade shows how much confidence he has in Daniels at the 2.

All the PG rumors show how much confidence he has in Bev's health and Canaan as backup 2.

    oh Morey knows...

We often see these "feeling better and healthier than he's felt in years" quotes from injury-plagued players during the offseason before he starts playing the 82 game grind. Of course their injured body parts feel great when they are resting and rehabbing and not playing all out vs NBA guys.

I think Brandon Roy said he felt great before he started playing for the Wolves, too.

We will have to see about Nash, but the odds are not in his favor at his age.

Nash being healthy doesn't mean he's going to be playing the whole season.

If Nash is healthy he's still a top 10 PG in the league. Reports are saying he is. Problem is he's 40 now and we've seen not to trust his health. Everyone in LA wants Lin to start and most objective fans think he should.

But if Nash is healthy he should start out of respect if anything. You attempting to undermine Lin is not effective and is changing no one's mind.

Nash'll be playing 20 mins a game, sitting out back to backs, and will be extremely lucky if he sees 30 games this season and if that happens he'll probably be getting injections in his back in between quarters after game 20. I predict it'll be more like 10-15 games this season.

If Nash feels good that day, he still starts because those 20 mins he gives all star quality playmaking, but Lin'll be starting at least 2/3rd of the season by default

With both Nash and Lin I'm curious how they're gonna be used in the Princeton. They both need to pick and roll teams to death, not handoff at the wing and do basketcuts.
