Strange, never personally seen a fat cop. Every single cops I've encounter are very fit (and respectful and professional).

Do you have warrants or something? That's cool.

No warrants. Traffic incidents. Burglary. House break-in. Business break-in. Driving around. Eating at restaurants. Those kind of usual stuff in America.

There are fat cops, just like there are fat criminals, etc. That Ferguson kid looked a little overweight.......

A large portion of the US is fat, so of course there are going to be fat cops.

On a side note, I did see a fat cop one time at McDonald's eating 6 mcdoubles. You cop haters would have loved to be there............

Generally, when cops get fat they seem to shift them away from doing patrol type work. They have good unions, so they can't fire them, it appears to me that they shift them to things like doing security at the Courthouse, and I assume working in the evidence room and other jobs like that. There really aren't any fat, fat cops that I've seen rolling around, responding to 911 calls.

The other thing, you have to factor in the vest, which makes them look like their abdomen and waist are a few inches larger. It will make normal looking people look a little pudgy.

That makes a lot of sense. There should be physical as well as mental requirement for cops. They should be highly respected and paid accordingly, but with high expectation of their conduct and their ability in returns. They, after all, are there to protect us and carry guns to lethally kill when necessary within a trigger. (even more so with school teachers, but that's another topic)

We should have private security only.

Ever seen the physical tests required for becoming a cop in some departments like HPD or the HSCO? Easy as hell..... They should be much harder and have to go through them every couple of years imo.

15 pushups mayne. That **** is pathetic. LAPD is a force that requires a bit more, but still not hard.

It's not a great job. Its hazardous, you deal with the scum of society all the time, everyone's watching you all the time expecting you to violate someone's rights, and the pay and the respect you get for all the crap doesn't really make it worth it for most people. So, one, you won't be able to enforce very high requirements or you won't be able to fill your ranks. And, two, cops are not going to feel great incentives for self-improvement just so they can compete in the industry that most sane people wouldn't want to be in anyway. If you want fit cops, tell your representatives we want much higher requirements and much higher pay for cops.

Pay really depends on department. I believe in Plano, starting officers make 50k or more a year, but must have a four year degree. Houston area cops probably get paid like crap compared to DFW cops because of all the unincorporated area here versus up there where there are many different city departments. It really just depends. I agree that they should get paid more, but only with higher requirements to become a cop and then mandatory cameras in every cop.

Most of us where I work are former military, current military, and/or college educated. I don't think my job is that stressful. Most of us workout and try to eat right. I workout a minimum of four days a week and take very good care of myself.

I'll say it again: The depts. that pay $12 an hour get what they pay for. Us and most depts in the higher paying areas don't have a bunch of 300lb slobs working for them.

I thank you for posting in my thread and appreciate your input but I have a hard time taking it seriously when you said most cops are pro second amendment. The police unions are always on the front lines for the gun bans and endorse anything Feinstein dreams up. I'm not trying to skew the topic of my own thread I just bring it up to point out you might be too close to the situation to have an objective viewpoint.

I thought this was about being fat.

I'm not just taking a wild guess here. I know for a fact that most cops (at least in TX) are pro-second amendment. AN armed society is a polite society.

We're more armed than any society in the history of the world. I doubt anyone would describe it as polite. This moronic slogan is becoming a real classic among conservatives, another in a long line of them.
