No, Vick doesn't get a pass...he spent years in jail and lost 100+ million dollars. He definitely was in the wrong, but he wasn't actively killing and abusing like it was made out to be in this thread. There is a difference.

True, people would care more. They'd also care more if there was video of the dogs being killed. Truth be told, the real public backlash didn't start until Josh Gordon's suspension was announced/upheld. Sure, there was some discord before Josh, but once people were able to compare his 1 year to Rice's 2 games the ball really started rolling. Then the elevator video was introduced and bang. NFL should've suspended Rice 8+ games to begin with. He'd likely still be a Raven and playing by next season. They're doing all this now to save face.

 

Exactly my point. A mosquito isn't a "cuddly type fauna" thus no one cares what happens to it.

I can agree with that. If the NFL had come down harder initially there would be less backlash....that said Josh Gordon more than earned his suspension. That kid is an absolute moron.

That doesn't follow. I was exposing the hypocrisy of only caring about the well being of aesthetically pleasing animals. You kill a dog and everyone is upset, you kill a rat.....no big deal. Your statement doesn't make sense in that context.

 

Yeah, the whole point is that the NFL is trying to cover **** up...which is the real issue here. Gordon's suspension is fine bc there was a rule in place for that. The problem is that the NFL chose to ignore what happened and gave Rice a slap on the wrist for something that warranted a year long suspension. Now, they're trying to get out of the hole they dig for themselves.

 

I already did- my son's an honor student at the University of South Carolina.

 

So using that logic, you should have no problems with what Vick did. That, or you think swatting mosquitos or flys or killing spiders is awful.
