That's your own personal view- but you're making it way worse by calling his POV "disgusting." I don't know about you, but we treat our dogs like family. No, they're not equivalent, but they are part of the family. And if you really understand what goes on in these dog fighting rings, how innocent animals are tortured, and then killed, you'd most likely be changing your tune. Or, at the very least, not calling someone's reasonable POV "disgusting"- that's on you. What would be reasonably disgusting to me is someone having a cavalier attitude towards dog fighting.
I must say, I am kind of in Rez's corner of y'alls debate, but that is one of the funniest things I have read here in a long time. Definitely stealing it for some golf course smack talk. Sorry for the interruption, please proceed....
Oh, ****ing bull**** with your ludicrous nonsense. Dogs were brutally tortured and killed. A woman was knocked out and gained consciousness. Don't make it sound like one is more horribly wrong than the other- ludicrous my ****ing ass-you wouldn't be saying that **** if Michael Vick tortured your pet, MF.
Just to piggyback on a prior conversation in here about dogs vs humans: A human is more valuable obviously. Knocking out a woman is a worse crime than killing a random dog. However, the systematic torture and execution of dogs reveals a POTENTIALLY worse personality disorder than knocking out a human being. When profilers talk about serial killers with anti-social behavior they don't mention that the person may have a temper where he hits his wife in drunken rages, but they do mention the killing of animals. The depravity involved in the Vick saga is scary. The details of what happened to animals on his property (not the dog fighting part) is truly troubling. I wouldn't let either man babysit my kids. Intent and psychology behind a crime matter.
WTF is wrong with you people? If it was your dog that Michael Vick hung and electrocuted, you'd be singing a different tune. Please, don't ever own a pet, ever.
I doubt they value an animal over a human (neither do I), but this particular situation when you factor the number of animals vs humans and the level of cruelty, humans lose. Well, you learned some respect. You're entitled to your opinion. However, the law isn't on your side.
Just save yourself the trouble and don't respond to and or read my post at all. I don't fight with females. What you think is worst is your opinion and you're welcome to it... But the many people who lost family members due to drunk drivers may feel differently. And the NFL kicking Ray Rice out of the league isn't going to stop domestic violence in this society (maybe just in the NFL)... It's silly to even think that it would. The court system is where we should look... And the court system let Ray Rice go.
I disagree, both are wrong, but one involves a human victim thus it's worse in my opinion. If it was your mother that was knocked out, you'd probably be singing a different tune. Please don't ever have a sister, wife, or daughter. Ever. It's not a reasonable POV, and it is disgusting. I get that some people view animals as part of their families, but that doesn't make it so. In my opinion 1000 dogs don't equal 1 person....but that doesn't mean it's right to treat animals poorly, just that it's not on the same level as treating an actual person poorly.
Because I value human life more than animal life? My comment had to do with Houstunna repeatedly saying that Vick killed/abused 30+ dogs...which is completely false. This doesnt make it right, but Vick was only involved in a handful of those, not the full 30+. Vick's biggest fault is that he is the one that funded the operation. He wasnt actively going and killing dogs or actively involved in training them through abuse. He was there for some of it, yes...but to say that Vick was involved the entire time is completely false. He wasnt there 90% of the time...his involvement was more financial than anything else. I think it's important to get the fact straight, rather than making blanket comments like Vick killed/abused 30+ dogs.
Mike Vick was not hanging and electrocuting his or anyone else's pets...you are taking it to the extreme. He bred these animals for the purpose of fighting them, while still inhumane, it is the truth.. For someone who talks as though they are knowledgable of dog fighting rings/Vick's scenario, you should at least be realistic. Being overly dramatic does not help prove your point.
OK, I accept your position, although I still disagree. Just for kicks though, if Ray's wife wasn't knocked out, which would you deem worse?
This is the point that's getting lost in the shuffle. I dont think anyone is saying Vick is innocent. However, it's important to understand what actually took place. The dogs that were used in the whole Vick scandal were basically raised to fight. In other words, they were basically wild animals, no different than Hyenas. They were not domesticated dogs...they werent Dandorotik's dogs that were taken from a loving home and sent out to fight and get abused. Although there isnt much of a difference, there is still a slight difference.
It doesn't matter... He still hit her. You're never going to win an argument that the abuse of a dog is worst than the abuse of a woman. Even if it seems the woman in question doesn't have a problem with it.
Hmm, that's an interesting hypothetical. I still think assaulting a human is "worse" than killing a non-human animal so I would probably still think him assaulting his fiancee was worse, but if you scale it back to where it was "only" a slap with no real damage, or you have her directly assaulting him immediately beforehand I'd change my mind. It all comes down to where people place value and I place the life of non-human animals, even "cute" one's, very low on the chart. I wonder if Vick was fighting crawfish, snakes, or scorpions if people would care as much?
Reports said Vick did actively participate in at least one drowning and electrocution. Whether he did all of them or none, it's despicable to allow such things. Do you give Rick Pitino a pass because he didn't actually touch those boys? Does McHale get a pass for allowing Harden's defense?
