So much kneejerk in this thread. Remind me of the game thread in the first half when it was doom and gloom about how the Texans had no chance given how they looked. Maybe Clowney is injury prone. Maybe not. Maybe they're flukes. Maybe they're signs of things to come. But man some people are already ready to blast the team for wasting a player for a possibility that may not occur, and instead should've taken a different "franchise" player that so far no one knows can even name yet? On the subject of Wilson the game manager. Russell Wilson is definitely being used as a game manager. That team relies on the running game and defense. Wilson's job in that Seattle offense is to be a game manager. What I think people's opinions differ on is whether (A) Wilson is capable of doing more in a less ideal setting and/or (B) if other QBs that are labelled 'game managers' like Fitzpatrick or someone equally mediocre would also find similar success as Wilson in Seattle. My opinion? If Wilson was the QB for the Texans this game, we'd have scored more than 17 points. And if Fitzpatrick was the QB for Seattle on Thursday, Seattle would've scored less. Game manager or not, Wilson is on a whole different level from what most fans perceive for QBs with that title, which is a Trent Dilfer type.
mods should close. the last 4 pages are hot garbage related to wilson on the seahawks. some posters just can't help themselves. i'll wait to jump in on the clowney injury when the new thread is opened.
Nope... But there were several other quarterbacks that were. And since the Seattle defense seems to be the blueprint _ they have no high drafted pass rushers in their starting lineup.
Rodgers wasn't ready when he entered the league either. He had the benefit of learning under a HOF QB for a few seasons. Too bad Bridgewater doesn't have that luxury.
And Seattle also didn't draft a QB early... so again, what is your point? All things considered, Seattle would have probably drafted Clowney over any of the QB's in this draft considering what they need from their D-line vs. what they need from their QB to be successful.
"Injury prone" is real. I know someone said it is "voodoo," but I respectfully disagree. I understand that Ben Tate is already injured again and out of the Brown's lineup. He is certainly a case in point. First, the physics of NFL football is obviously incompatible with the construction of the human body. The cervical spine or neck area of most players is shaped like a banana. The human scull is on a swivel and is not designed for NFL hits. Also, human tissue varies in consistency. Some have such tough skin that an injection is a chore. Bone density is another example. Some human bodies are just more vulnerable to injury or disease than others.
they wasted about 10-15 good picks under the Schaub and Rick Smith regime. Anyhow, we can't really evaluate if this pick was wasted until after a 2 year period unless the news today is Clowney out for a year, and even then he could come back next year and be stronger than the other candidates. Your point is a knee jerk and stated because of FEAR.
It's actually not even that, his point is that the Texans didn't pick the player he wanted to pick, so he's trying to say "I told you so" really really prematurely. He wanted Sammy Watkins for whatever reason.
oh I didn't scroll up far enough. sammy Watkins the WR ? isn't that a reach for a #1 when we got AJ and hopkin and all these other holes

AP - Houston Texans rookie Jadeveon Clowney adds insult to injury, breaking three ribs when he farted getting out of the MRI machine this morning. It is expected that the Texans star rookie will give it a try in week 8 against the Titans. * "Pancakes" neck flaps contributed to this report.
Oh, man. If true...... I've been saying for years we need to cut this silly indoor grass nonsense and just go to field turf like all the other domes.
Same thing happened to Welker, Gronk and The Hitman (Hart the Punter) smh. Just put turf down already. They do too many events in there and those trays never lock up right
