This. I think 9-7 is very attainable given our soft schedule. Anything under that is a failure. We may not have the best QB, but we have a good enough roster to take a good portion of these games.
Our main guys missing at most 2 games. Tired of losing key contributors for the season or long stretches.
Has to be the Texans finishing better than .500 and Ryan Fitzpatrick justifies OB's faith in him. You could also add that the rookie class showed some great promise.
If we want to build a team the way Carroll built the Seahawks I want to see a ferocious defense. We've had a good defense before under Wade, but we never saw them create pressure with just their DL and we're nowhere near Seahawks level of gang tackling. I think it starts with the front 7 and with exceptional DT/NT play, so I'd like to see progress from Nix. Carolina and KC both stepped up their defenses last year to top levels once Poe and Star stepped up. Both teams were bookended by good pass rushers before 2013, but improved NT play took it to the next level.
I am thinking 9-7 would be real exciting. The top item on many of you guy's lists is already not happening: Clowney injured, may be out for extended period. Hope Cushing can get back to form, didn't play well today. Watt looks primed for an amazing season. Like I said earlier, I have not seen someone affect the game like he does since Lawrence Taylor.
Watt stays healthy, team plays better than last season, but loses enough to get a good pick in the upcoming quarterback buffet.
This team is not a 2-14 team, wasn't last year either, they had a chemistry spill, IMO. They had given up on Schaub and Kubiak and packed it in.....which led to the top pick. This team is still a playoff team when healthy. DD
well they did name henne the starter lik 2 weeks ago.. the mor ei look at it, i think bortles will be the best qb in this draft, even though i did pimp bridgewater like crazy.. i just hope bortles doesnt end up being elite..
Agreed with this. Everybody is saying 9-7...is that really a success, when 10-6 would likely make playoffs? Our schedule is a cakewalk. The only reason that nobody is really expecting/talking playoffs is because they carelessly and irresponsibly went into this season with a CFL-caliber QB. I'd be working Mallett in, personally. Give him some series each game, and if he looks great, start him. My biggest fear is them waiting till Fitz costs us a few games that we should win before pulling the plug on him. I know he wasn't complete defecation today, but there's just little reason to play him unless there's no shadow of a doubt that he's a ton better than Mallett. We all know he isn't going to be our QB in 2015.
