I actually have no issues with A&M (I actually like Sumlin, a lot)and barely know the guy posting. I did graduate from Lamar, but I'm not bothered by the loss or the score. LU scored 3 more than I expected. The snark comes from his celebrating a 73-3 win over a team that will do good to win games in the southland. Maybe I misread his intent, but it sure seemed like he was anointing the Aggies the best in the state because of a huge win (point wise) over Lamar, a team as I stated earlier that gave up 27 points to Grambling and has only had a football program for about 3 years. It just didn't seem like that big of a win to me.
Don't know the guy so you can probably figure out the rest. Not only that, he makes false claims that I was annointing them the best around. I guess I'm not supposed to feel good about my school winning a game by SEVENTY POINTS. I notice he doesn't have the balls to talk up his school. Just troll the Aggies board. Good work moderator.
Does this mean We run the spread??? Didn't think so. LOL I trolled the Aggies board with 3-4 posts. I'm just that awesome!
#WRTS is what set you off? I would laugh it wasn't so sad. Aside from MAYBE Baylor...nobody else in the state looks as good right now do they? Nah. What set you off was your school got crushed tonight. It happens. Just deal with it and move on. I made no comment on Lamar yet you felt the need to take a massive dump all over a nice win by TAMU. Your sour grapes are duly noted. And yes.....4-5 posts right in a row here talking trash about another school is trolling (as well as kinda weird after your school just got crushed... especially coming from a MODERATOR).
To steal a phrase from Ziggy, #WRTS lumps into the pee pee games I thought were being left behind with the move to the SEC. To me it's also a silly call out when you no longer play any of the big boy teams in the state. If it's mainly a recruiting tool then ok I guess, but they seemed to be doing just fine without it.
IIRC, it started as a hashtag on a tweet by one of the commits after A&M picked up multiple high profile commitments a few months back. It just took off from there.
I expected Allen to play. IMO, here's why - 1. Allen has looked good in practice. His ceiling is higher than Hill's. He can throw the deep ball better than Hill. He's just perceived to be that good. 2. Sumlin might have given Hill his word that he'd play right away. They might also want to appease him so he doesn't transfer. If he's as good as they think he can be we might have a Brohm/Lefors or Leak/Tebow type situation. 3. I'm not sure Sumlin is worried about the redshirt. He probably feels like he can get other recruits in at QB and/or isn't 100% committed to even being at TAMU 3 years from now. Hill might be the best recruit TAMU has landed in the past decade. Not surprised he's playing.
Did you mean Allen? Hill was a 4 star (high 4 star, but still...) If you did mean Hill, and assuming you're putting him above Myles (who some recruiters considered the #1 recruit in last year's class), that probably won't apply once this year's recruiting class gets on campus. Both Kyler and Mack are beasts, and after what happened to tu that may also include Malik Jefferson soon.
I meant Allen. Garrett is up there too, maybe ahead. Before that the best I can think of was... Martellus Bennett probably.
I care about the way we won. We took care of business, looked good on both sides of the ball and won big like we were supposed to. Unfortunately, in today's college football it is important to blow out the teams you're supposed to. Beyond that I take no pleasure in pummeling Lamar. Good luck to them this season.
I dislike the fact that Lamar was fed to us, though. Why is David still playing Goliath? Scores like 73-3, 73-7 (Clemson) and 52-7 (OU) are just demoralizing to the losing team. Granted, no one is going to give heavy underdogs a chance to win, but why even make these games? It's good that small schools get some national exposure, as I'm sure more people know of Lamar as a school now, but it must be disheartening to have your team lose that badly. tl;dr - I'm not saying ranked teams should play ranked teams every Saturday, but these OOC games are just unfair lol.
The small schools count on the big payday from these games to help fund their athletic department. If these games went away, a lot of these schools wouldn't be able to make it.
Lamar made between 500k and 750k for the beating. they gladly took it. My issues earlier in the thread were not based on the thrashing, or any thing related to the game. It was the original post I quoted that made it seem like the poster was anointing the Aggies as the best in the state because they beat Lamar. If it was LSU or Bama and they won then yeah I could see that, but Lamar?? The game went exactly as any rational person should have expected. Good Luck to A&M, I do honestly root for them usually.
That field is TERRIBLE. How many injuries is that already tonight (all seem to be knee related) due to the field....holes everywhere, it's moving like it's on a pile of playground sand.
