I think we need to move away from the pro-style offense. I do think a pro-style offense could be successful, but not with the personnel we have. We need to move to a pass-first spread offense for the rest of the season; I think Swoopes would be able to run it.

I'm not saying we would have won if two of our starting tackles weren't suspended but it sure would have help. Strong suspends these guys instead of finding other ways to make their lives hell. When he does that he is also punishing the rest of the team and the fans who follow the team day in and out and that pay his overpriced salary.

What is Strong supposed to do? We, the fans and Patterson, cannot evaluate Strong accurately until he gets his personnel and his philosophy on the field. Strong has been working to instill his philosophy, but he did not recruit any of these players. He is working with what he has.

He doesn't HAVE to suspend guys from games. He isn't the only coach who deals with this stuff. There are other ways to make those guys pay that doesn't hurt the team and blow a season.

It sounds good to say that you shouldn't be like Stoops or Sumlin or Mack or all the other guys and just let guys play when they mess up but history doesn't remember the teams that had good discipline. It remembers winners.

If we lose 5 games this year, we're not going to look back and say, "Man that was a really well disciplined team."

    Also, another player suspended:

This is hilarious. Strong is all hype. Dude you're brought in here to win. Circling the game date and preparing for this...lol

Mack must be cracking up like crazy.

Why? His team with his recruits, his starting QB and O-Line, and without all the suspensions did just as bad last year. Strong was brought in to essentially burn down the program and rebuild it. The problems went far deeper than just the specific players or the coaches. I believe a couple of ex-UT current-NFL players have even alluded to it recently, but I can't find the articles offhand. People shouldn't be expecting a quick turnaround.

Every time they put the camera on Strong and his assistants, they looked completely dumbfounded.

I think having a well-disciplined team will result in a better culture in the whole organization.I personally don't have a problem with Strong punishing these entitled little sh**s in whatever way he deems fit.

Mack should be ashamed of himself because of how he left the program.

I was given the impression that the BYU safeties were up in run support, not respecting UT's pass offense (for good reason). Anyone know why we didn't throw the ball downfield at all? We weren't going to have room to run unless we got their safeties back.

To me, this ruined the whole game to me. Our defense was strong. But our 3 & outs on offense gave our defense no rest, and the defense was bound to crack.

    F this sh......!

Swoopes isn't really able to do that, as far as we know. I was actually impressed with the throws he made, but I assume they dramatically simplified the gameplan for him. Almost all his throws were to first-option receivers with limited decision making. I imagine they will, over the course of the season, develop the gameplan or move Heard into the starting role. As you said, inability to stretch the field is going to be a major problem.

It would also help if players would stop stealing stuff and getting kicked off the team and the like.

    Who gave you that impression?

Because they were doing the opposite, sitting back in a 2 deep zone on most plays.

The patchwork OL with zero experience was probably one of the worst such units playing in FCS on Saturday. 3 down lineman could shut down the run - and they did.

You're not going to look back at this year ever, so what difference does one or 2 wins make?

It's blindingly obvious that the stench of the Brown era is overpowering at this point. He is definitely the only coach who has to deal with it. Any comparison is inapt and inept.

While interesting, I'm not sure offering access to a private jet is really unique or all that expensive for 6 games a year. I suspect there are much better perks that coaches get all the time.

The timeline of that story does not line up. UT had interest in Strong by the end of December, meaning any interest in Mora also was in December. This story to me does not sound like Patterson's approach to me; it seems more like the approach of boosters or just the grandiose stereotype of UT in general.
