My oh my. Can't remember the last time I've seen a team play worse in the red zone than Stanford just did.
Gotta say Mariota's pocket presence is light years ahead of what it used to be. Impressive. Also looks like Oregon has a decent FG kicker for the first time in memory.
Props to Oregon. I thought they were dead in the water after MSU kicked them in the behind in the 1st half. If it weren't for the TO and the long TD pass, MSU would have had a sizable lead at the half. But after falling by 27-18, UO raised their game. I didn't think they had a 28-0 finishing kick in them. Arik Armstead looks like he's finally living up to the hype. Ifo Ekpre-Olomu has been destined to be a 1st half pick for a while (if he stays healthy). Maybe Devon Allen makes people forget Bralon Addison tore his ACL. What an explosive player! IMO, Connor Cook is good enough to make MSU a lock to win the Big Ten unless something really weird happens. This was the only loseable game on their schedule.
Oregon game ended up being a good one. First time watching Mariota, not convinced he's what the Texans need but I'll def keep tabs on him now.
Really? I thought he looked pretty bad. He was good evading pressure, getting outside the pocket, and keeping his head up. But he rarely seemed to step up into the pocket and past the edge rushers. He goes backwards not forwards. I really haven't seen it yet from him.... He has tools. I just don't see the surefire #1 pick a lot of others seem to.
Did LSU not play Wisconsin last week? Alabama against West Virginia? Georgia against Clemson? Etc. And the SEC plays the toughest conference schedules in the country by far, so I don't blame them for scheduling some cupcakes.
