It's sort of a toss up Mallett has been nothing special in preseason against scrubs and his only snaps in the regular season were terrible. I think no matter what we're in for a ton of interceptions.

Same here, the defense should be pretty exciting along with us finally having competent special teams play.

I've never once said Mallett wasn't capable of running this offense. I simply said the reasoning you used to make your point makes no sense. I have no clue what my age has anything to do with it, but calling me a closed-minded geezer because I disagreed with your rationale is pretty bushleague.

Bushleague? I'm an old geezer compared to most here. Don't be so thin skinned brah. You don't like my reasoning and I can understand that. No need in fussing over this. I don't understand all the negative responses about Mallett and I was just throwing different thought out here.

I'm curious what the first offensive play will be under Bill O'Brien. Most of you know the first play for the Texans back in '02 was a bomb. It went incomplete but there was a defensive pass interference penalty on the Cowgirls. A few plays later we got the 19-yard TD from Billy Miller.

Kubiak's first play as head coach in 2006 was a run. Wali Lundy had a 1-yard gain. The Texans did score on that drive though. Although we did lose the game against the Eagles.

Interesting that we play a team from the NFC East the first game of a new head coach (not including Phillips). Capers had the Cowgirls as the first game, Kubiak had the Eagles, and O'Brien has the Redskins. I guess the next coach will get the Giants in week 1 in 4 or 8 years. :)

Something I noticed in the preseason was that the quarterbacks wore arm bands with the plays on them. Pretty much exactly like what Brady has with the Patriots. Kubiak wouldn't allow his quarterbacks to wear arm bands. He expected them to know the plays.

If the Texans win the coin toss before the game expect them to defer. A couple times during the preseason the Texans deferred and took the ball to start the second half. This is a departure from what Kubiak did. He always elected to receive to start the game. His reasoning was that he got an extra possession in the game. I've never seen proof of a team getting an extra possession if they receive the first half kickoff, so I like the idea of deferring. I remember once DeMeco decided to defer and he got a chewing out from Kubiak.

I'm hoping the Texans will be more aggressive under the new coaching regime. In particular, I hope they go for it on 4th down more often. In almost every instance a team should go for it when it's 4th and 1 or 4th and 2. Over the long run a team will have more success if they go for it on 4th down rather than punting. Bill O'Brien brought in Jim Bernhardt who is the Director of Football Research for the team. He'll do analytic work to determine the best play strategy. That's an area the Texans were behind compared to other teams. There are a few teams with an analytics department. The Texans should catch up to them with Bernhardt now doing some work.

If they can just contain Griffin in the pocket (not letting him make plays with his legs too much) this should be a win

bro, its texans over fantasy football! If i was facing Foster, I'd still want him to score 10 TDs if it means the Texans win

My prediction will be half of yours, 14/15/1/1... in 6 games. And for the last 10 games, Watt will get no stats because every single opponent play will either be run to the opposite side or roll out to the opposite side.

They'll call it "Watt Continent."
