You think 100% of the long term unemployed are their by choice? I'm sure some are, but a lot are there because they were short term unemployed who couldn't find jobs as a result of insufficient demand.
Well of course nothing has happened in 5 years when we have had insufficient demand. My argument is increase demand through stimulus and some of that long term unemployment will go down. Not at all - but we're talking about a change in the LPR, not an increase in the involuntarily long-term employed. A dropping LPR may be a bad thing in some months, but it may also not be in other months. And in the long-term, it's expected that the LPR would be dropping - so using that as some kind of absolute negative is silly. Agreed - just another GOP meme that's proving totally false.
The economy doesn't need more ditchdiggers and then all will be well. It needs accurate prices that reflect the true availability of resources. But the stock market keeps hitting all time highs! Thanks QE!
It doesn't need ditch diggers - but if there are a bunch of necessary construction projects lined up over the next several years, why not accelerate them to today? It won't add any long-term cost and it creates momentum in the economy. I've never understood why this isn't done regularly - government construction spending should always be done during slow economic periods when prices of labor and materials are cheaper, and never during booms when labor and materials are more expensive (except for vital projects).
What would it take to cause an inflation truther/Paulista nutjob like yourself to actually do a bit of self evaluation that would result in a move towards reality? I want to know in which world going from 10.0% to 6.1% is negative. When it gets to the point that we can't even examine the most obvious numbers, there is no more discussion.
