Man I like that Mallett seems to have matured alot, I know this sounds like a homer but this , this is starting to fall into place. I thought it was going to be a while before we got a quality starting qb but Mallett has the makings of a nice 10 yr run. Hey, not any fun if ya dont have hope.

 

I personally don't understand how anyone can have a set opinion on him yet.

He hasn't gotten a chance to even play yet.

Brett K from BRB has a great piece on him today(Claiming that he looks like a stud) and then you wonder how a rookie QB came in and beat him.

I am going to roll with the "I have no freaking clue" group.

Has a cannon, but so does Jamarcus Russel. We don't know, but I would like to see him sooner than later.

 

I don't understand this comment, and I've heard/read it a lot since the trade. The guy is on the last year of his contract and Brady isn't going anywhere for a few years. Good or not, they were not going to pony up the extra money for him to sit there for who nows how long. They decided to bring in a rookie QB they liked from the draft and "reset the clock" on having a cheap, quality guy as a back up for the foreseeable future.

Drafting Jimmy G wasn't a sign that Mallet isn't automatically good enough to be a good QB in the league. It was the Patriots being the Patriots and getting a cheaper option at a position of less need for them. And, I may be way off, but I don't personally buy they were going to cut him.

I really don't know how anyone, outside of players and coaches at practice with him every day, can say anything concrete about the guy either way.I keep reading people say he's going to be great or he's terrible. How do we know either way? He's barely had any snaps in real games.

 

Yeah I don't understand the comment that he got beat out by a rookie. I look at as Patriots wanting to get a extended look at Jimmy since they already know Mallett. I cringe when I hear people say he hasn't shown anything since he's been in New England. Well uhhh he's playing behind a guy name Tom Brady

And there's well why didn't they re-sign him if he was so good. But fail to realize has never started in the NFL and maybe just maybe he wanted the opportunity to play in a real game.. You got Tom Brady talking playing well into his 40's I didn't see Mallett re-signing anyways

Ive been pretty non impressed with the whole Mallett thing but i will admit it will be nice to have a QB who has a cannon for once... Schaub always had a ceiling because he just didn't have the arm.

 

I really wish we had him in training camp. Probably would be starting this week.
