Aquafina? That's chemically treated water, same way tap is chemically treated, in fact regulations on bacteria/chemicals for tap water are much greater than regulations for bottled water companies, so it's possible the bottled water is the same or even worse then tap if it's treated or for advertising sake - "pure water" and "Minerally enhanced" I would recommend spring water, it's naturally filtered through the earths minerals and mostly untouched by the companies. Also try to get them out of glass bottled whenever possible, lord knows what the plastic from bottles do to you. Also if your scared to drink tap, you should be horrified to shower in it, as you absorb the water and all of it's chemicals straight into your bloodstream. When drinking tap, our body has a natural filtration system to protect itself. But when you're showering, you pores are open, the water gets right to the bloodstream and brain. So unless you're living by a spring (which would be hands down the best), your best bet it reverse osmosis, or possible well water that you have tested and it indeed turned out clean. Shower head filters are nice but most shower heads only take out the chlorine, I like sprite shower filters, specifically metal ones.
So do you recommend I put on a plastic body suit before I shower? Sure the water is treated, but what about the pipes it runs through to get to your house? They are corroded and full of bacteria/rust/etc. If you live in a house that is 30 years old, those pipes are likely rusted to ****. If you live in a city then you have no choice but to deal with it. Everyone would love to live next to a natural spring but that isn't going to happen. I recommend showering, brushing your teeth, cooking and drinking beer. Even wash your car in beer. Be sure to boil it first though.
Lol i'm not saying any of that. I certainly wouldn't recommend drinking beer. Yes, the pipes are ****ed. What we can do is a, buy new pipes and make sure they are clean regularly. Or B put filter on the faucets and shower heads. Rather then just rolling over and saying "**** it, let me and my family get poisoned, nothing I can do, where's my beer?"
So, you can by-pass the storage tank without issues? Interesting. Is there a downside? I have a water treatment system that filters all of the water before it comes into the home plumbing, plus the reverse osmosis in kitchen sink. I'm having the filters replaced next week and may ask the guy about the by-pass.
The tank stores water that has gone through the RO filter because RO filters are incredibly slow. The downside is when you want RO water it would come out at a trickle. If you want a speedy RO system you can get an expensive one with a pump that doesn't just rely on water pressure.
Sorry, but bigtexxx is right. There is nothing more healthy about using a sediment and carbon filter for your drinking water. It takes out the foul chlorine tastes, and saves your expensive faucets, but that is about it.
That's an interesting point about the shower heads. Aquafina does feel softer and smoother than tap water. I also have a neighbor who uses kangen... the 4000 dollar alkaline system. Doesn't sound right to me.
Why would you even need a shower filter? or bottled water? Don't you just bathe and drink from the river? Didn't know people were putting $4000 alkaline systems in their vans these days... that also doesn't sound quite right to me.
Sawyer PointZeroTwo .02 micron filter which goes into a carbon filter. I have an attachment on my faucet to fill up the ozarka machine 5gal bottles and I also can pack it for camping. Totally money saver and filters down to .02 micron and is back flushable. (rated for million gallons)
Thousands of years ago water wasn't treated with chemicals, pollution was also a non issue. Plumbing was also vary rare until the 1800's, so no tap, no rusty bacteria filled pipes, just water from a fresh source of unpolluted water. Completely different situation today, ridiculous that someone would even try to compare.
You are talking about just 2 stages and those 2 do a little more than that. You can also get 5, 6 stage filter.
I haven't been checking your command of the English language but I do know from the posts you made , you have nothing else between the ears.
What more does a 2 stage sediment and carbon filter do? more stages typically involve smaller micron sediment filter along with finer stages of carbon filter for improved taste or a setup to an RO membrane. I still stand by bigtexxx's statement that healthwise you are wasting your time. You can drink RO/DI water all day if you want though.
How soon is soon enough? Even when your filter is just a little depleted, there will be a little bit of junk that gets through. A little bit over time adds up to a lot and there is really no way you can clean that storage tank.
