lol, I made it by taking a screen shot of his ice bucket challenge video: http://www.nba.com/rockets/daryl-morey-als-ice-bucket-challenge
the rockets basically bought two picks with this deal. if he stays on the roster he's a fallback if canaan proves he's not nba talent.
So, if Jason Terry is going to be on the roster, does that mean Ish Smith is gone in order to get the roster down to 15? Howard/Dorsey/Capela Jones/Motiejunas/Adrien Ariza/Papanikolaou/Garcia Harden/Daniels/Johnson Beverley/Canaan/????? Gee, Hopson, and Powell are going to be gone. That leaves Covington, Tarik Black, Terry, and Ish Smith. Black will get cut and the Vipers will pick him up. That leaves Covington, Smith, and Terry for the final spot.
Morey getting back at Cuban??? LOL Does Terry still have anything left in the tank? If yes, he was as much responsible for that championship ring in DAL as Dirk and Tyson were. Can teach the young bench a lot of things
I doubt if they are high picks. A guy who is rehabbing his knee at the age of 37, doesn't inspire much confidence.
Yeah don't get me wrong. If there were no pending trades, trading multiple cut contracts for an expiring one...to be hopefully used later..and some very nice 2nds does make a lot of sense. It's just that 'soon' is not happening.
Don't forget about the Pelicans pick and someone on a rookie contract. After the many years of seeing Morey at work, I gotta say this is a chess match move to get him his third piece.
Let's learn from the Asik trade. It was agreed to in principle, then Morey was able to add Ariza to the deal in the meantime. There stands a chance that Morey turns this into a bigger deal.
I have completely lost hope for the Rox majority fan base. This deal was about finances and setting the team up for a much much bigger and better trade anywhere between the start of the season to the trade deadline(probably when there will be a plethora of great deals available) for essentially nothing(Gee, Hopson, and Powell were NOT making the final roster). Yet that being said everyone here is focusing on the fact that Les spent money on a former Rocket killer. A. The Rockets were more or less over the Cap (taking on more salary doesn't hurt the teams pursuit of players in FA). B. It's Les' $ C. I'd be willing to bet Terry might not play a minute in Rockets red. Even if he starts the season w the team, he's surely going to be buried on the bench or if they are lucky.... He recovers and is a great on the court asset. Deal is a win-win. If you complain about this deal than I'm pretty sure you have no idea how NBA transactions or Daryl Morey works.
Great pickup. I'd do the same thing if I had Les's money Sign Terry then cut him ceremoniously on opening day festivities
