Well I would agree that there is no reason to be butthurt about this, I mean, it's annoying that we are wasting time on a QB that has the IQ of a toaster, but that's not a reason to be butthurt.

Unless you bought into the "Mallet sucks"/"He'll never be a Texan" camp way too early, I suppose.

They're mediocre at best. It's widely accepted as such around the media.

Ohhhhhh well since you put it that way....

    I'm convinced now.

Again both guys would giggle at Mallett.

All of you guys ragging on Ryan Mallett, I get it. I'm a lifelong Arkansan and a huge Razorback fan. However, he brought it every single week and made a living off the deep ball. He may sound like a dumb thug (well he IS in a sense) and he has the ego of a spoiled brat, but holy crap he is a scholar of the game! He's brilliant at reading through his progressions, making adjustments at the line of scrimmage, and generally controlling the flow of the offense. This is a low-risk, high reward move and mark my words: He WILL be your starter soon.

Ian Rappoport was tweeting that Dallas tried to get him and that's why we had to trade a pick to get him
Otherwise they would have dropped him and he would have been claimed

Mark rypien went to the probowl that year, threw for yards that with inflation and absurd no contact after 5 yards penalties, would come out to 4,800 yards in today's nfl.

I still can't understand how people are complaining about giving up a 7th rounder for a potential qb solution. Even if he doesn't turn out well, it's a 7th round pick. If he does work out, looks like we gave up a 6th round pick for a starting qb.

    Forgot to add:

My biggest worry about Mallet is his mobility in the pocket. Texans have some O-line issues in terms of pass protection.

It's very similar to when the Raiders traded a 6th rounder for Schaub.

I just watched it too and you're right, when he's just sitting and talking he sounds like a moron. But then he stood up and started breaking down routes and how he reads defenses. I'm impressed, I hope we got a steal

Like I said, his voice is that of a trashy dumb***, but he's a truly remarkable scholar of the game. We had nothing but trust in him at Arkansas.

He sounds like that guy off Meet the Millers. The 'no regrets' tattoo guy.

Yeah he definitely needs a PR overhaul. But he's the real deal. It's been said before, and yes, his mobility outside the pocket is worrisome. Everything else though? Very fundamental quarterback with a cannon on his right shoulder.

Would have hated this pre-draft, love it post-draft.

One downside is, it makes Savage a complete waste of a pick. Fitz/Mallett are going to get them through this season, and if they both suck, they'll draft one in the 1st round next year. Savage has no chance of ever seeing the field.
