Also a throwaway player.....We swapped out bad QB for bad QB and gave up a throwaway pick to do so.

As far as I know it's from Beverley Hills Cop and it just means someone is trying to get over on you.

Glad it's a conditional 7th, but I still have a problem that they even think Mallett is worth a roster spot & worth tutoring and spending time thinking about. I don't like that BOB seems to be in love with these statuesque immobile types when that's not what's winning games in today's NFL.

I'll give BOB the benefit of the doubt for a player he had direct contact/communication/observation with... or would you have rather had them give up a 3rd rounder for Matt McGloin? (who has more value simply because he's had more opportunity than Mallett has had)

Running QB's aren't winning games in today's NFL either...

BOB wanted #1 someone who knows the offense in case Fitz gets hurt. That's Mallet or nobody that is in the NFL. Even if he is a bonehead you'd have to learn some under Brady for 3 years.

We may need someone to come in and throw deep a lot late in games. :-0

And I meant to add, it's really disappointing to see another coach that is stuck on players that he's familiar with. Are we going to trade for Matt McGloin next? More thinking outside the box please.

    ?

Brady, Manning, Roffleberger, Flacco, Brees, Ryan, Dumb Manning.

They're all slower than dirt and have won a ton the last 7-8 years.

I'd rather not waste picks on worthless QB's that don't improve our team. Either way, it doesn't matter in the end.

If we didn't do it, the Cowgirls would of jumped on it with a trade.

Even the greatest coaches of all-time do this.

Don't worry... they'll be wasting plenty of higher picks on other players (maybe even a QB) that doesn't improve the team.

We'll see, they drafted incredibly well this year so that trope might be dying.

They're also all 29 or older. This is not the new guard. And Mallett clearly doesn't have the brains of these quarterbacks.

Cool. He's not the QB of the future though. Didn't give up anything.

The fact that these guys are all old farts and still winning does not help your argument.
