You have to put things into context though. Can't just throw around the "deals are consistently changing" line in every scenario. In Bosh's case, he had every reason in the world to join the Rockets, and all indications prior to his final decision point to Houston as his destination. In Dragic/Bledsoe's case though, (1) there's absolutely no reason for Suns to consider trading one of them before they have secured the other. (2) No indication whatsoever from anywhere that a deal was close, other than from our insider who claimed a deal was SOOOOON even 1.5 months ago. So pardon my suspicions.
The whole thing makes more sense once one grasps that stuff leaked to the media is almost never unintentional, and is usually always to serve one's interest. For example, why would phoenix want the public sphere to know they're considering trading dragic if/when bledsoe re-signs, and where would that leave them if this things draws out to the point of a forced s&t ? You're also holding the phoenix front office to a very "simpleton" mindset, in that they can't operate more than one move at a time (the chess to checkers metaphor is very apt here), if they were looking to move dragic, there's no reason why they wouldn't start engaging regarding him, obviously they're not going to commit until the other things fall into place. The other side is the practicality, it would seem odd that they would want to become us from 2010-2012, and let's be honest here, that strategy les forced morey into sucks, which is why he accepted that gasol trade, that was about the extent of its potential, and that a cheap ass team had 4 all nba max/near max players on rookie deals might never happen again and certainly doesn't exist right now.
I don't know why so many let this stuff bother them. They ask questions that no one could possibly know, pester people passing information, b!tch, whine, go on rants about how things didn't happen, etc. If it happens it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. Stop slobbering over every piece of information and discuss it rationally. Stop crusading against people sharing and passing along things. Stop making everything personal or making it all about you and how you were right and evvvveryone else that ever was and is wrong. AND FOR THE LOVE OF HUMANITY STOP BEING DISGUSTED BY THE LIN TRADE CINCY.
If you're a dedicated clutchfan who happens to get access to info you have to consider: - if I contextualize or caveat my info the suspicious people will accuse me of being vague or hedging. Or - If I share exactly what I heard the suspicious people will kill me if it doesn't come true. So if someone was here for the community first and foremost it's a lose lose to share info unless it comes true. And there's really no guarantee of that until the inks dry or the league call is made. You're probably right to be suspicious. But it has it's effects.
443 pages in, I consider the third post in this thread prescient. And obviously, the guy who posted it seems pretty sharp.
I take them as seriously as I take a rumor tweet from a member of the national media. Which is to say I think there's smoke, but I have no idea how much fire there is behind it, nor do I know if it amounts to anything at the end. But just as I was following Woj's every tweet during the FA period, knowing full well that it's possible we don't get any fish, here I follow Plowman knowing that it's possible nothing ever materializes. At least when it comes to being a sports fan, I don't deal in absolutes. Something may happen, something may not. Rockets may win the championship, they may not. But it's the journey that matters. To me at least.
Said this many times. Phoenix doesn't have to do jack squat with Bledsoe until October 1st. And until they know what happens with that situation they won't do anything with Dragic. So, have a snickers and put your feet up.
I'm a dedicated Clutchfan with semi-direct access to Morey; my best friend is a good friend of his (usually sits next to him at Lakers/Clippers games when the Rox visit LA). I could have my friend prod DM for info, but choose not to for a few reasons: * I don't know that DM would even risk telling a good friend a secret of any real value. * It might expose my friend as the source of the leak. * Consequently, I might only be able to get a decent scoop once or twice before he stops telling my friend. * ClutchFans posters would eventually call me a fake for a) being wrong if the move didn't pan out, or b) not being able to follow up with another scoop. So basically, what's the point? I think most of the real CF insiders are far enough removed from the organization so as not to worry about their source losing a job over divulging info.
i think we should lock this thread. not that we don't want "insiders" to post...but there hasn't been anyhting relevant in a while.
Totally see that. I mean, even if you did prod your friend, I'm sure they'd be reluctant to share information they got in confidence because it would expose their source (in this case DM), put their relationship at risk and potentially impact the plans. There are so many risks in sharing inside information, so many reasons NOT to break the circle of trust, why would anyone do it just to get called out on here?
...and there's nothing particularly ominous about October 1. The first Suns qualifying offer expires, but the Suns can, and would just issue another 3.7 million dollar QO that is valid until March 1. If nothing is resolved with Bledsoe by 10.01.14 the negotiation will just continue on into training camp, and possibly into the regular season. I'll guess the Suns and Bledsoe's camp will get creative and get a contract agreement in late September or early October.
I know Suns have extensions coming due next summer but heavens, they have oodles of room to keep EB in the fold, and happy. And tradable later if they so choose, save for a significant injury of course. So, why are they jerking the guy around?
