Nah not like that - my friend group at this point in my life is mostly UT grads. I just feel like, you know, yeah we might only win 7 games. Clearly. But, and I've said this before, I would love this thread to be for Aggies to talk about how Speedy is going to perform this year, or how the defensive is going to handle the missing players...I don't think any of us think we are going to win the SEC West.

Basically I know that if someone didn't go to A&M they probably think we are going to win fewer games than I think we are going to win. I love all the good info I get from this thread, but I hate reading through the negativity. For the most part, I think we all know we are huge homers who lack perspective.

Yeah this thread is for 5 star recruits and bragging about shiny new stuff, not winning or pretending we're an elite team. We headed that way tough IMO. I don't care how tough the division is. You recruit better than any other program in the state of Texas, you'll be elite... eventually. If the coaching is good.

Feel free to return to the Texas thread when you get the chance by the way. If you have some knowledge or insight, feel free, but your posts or more opinion rather than fact.

    Enjoy your season.

It if makes you feel better, the same rhetoric was used before the Ags first season in the SEC.

Is it rhetoric or just people's best guess? I predicted a&m would struggle in their first year in the SEC because, similar to this year, they were breaking in a first-time freshman starter to replace a first round QB and had lost some other key pieces. We all know the story, but that freshman was a phenom and the team totally exceeded expectations. It worked that time, but that doesn't mean my prediction should be based on the unexpected. And neither would any other rational person's.

This isn't just an a&m thing. When Colt and Shipley left for the NFL, I didn't expect our offense to magically improve despite losing its two best players.

Everyone's posts in this thread are opinion. If anything, I'm at least posting some opinion based in fact.

I'm not off topic, so I'll post as I see fit, thanks.

I think Sumlin should have found a real DC this offseason. That defense is going to get shredded by Mike Davis on Thursday night. Aggies will score a ton of points this year, but they are going to be in shootouts more times than not. 8-4 would be a good season, but I think 7-5 is more reasonable.

As an Aggie, I believe this is spot on. If the D can't be taught to recognize the wheel route this year, then we will certainly have a new DC next season.

I watched Keenum and Manziel in this system. I don't think there is any reason to believe there will be a big drop off in the offense. Its like Mike Leach with Texas Tech. Whoever they put in at QB will produce big numbers.

That's not really fare to Manziel. He could scramble better than any QB in the last few years. This new kid is a dual threat so many he will be able to do the same but you don't just get that from a system.

Manziel and Keenum weren't in the same stratosphere when it came to talent at the collegiate level.

Kicks off the start of SEC football on the new SEC Network (although the network has been on a few days already)

Actually interested to see how A&M fares without Johnny Football.

They have 4 games they should definitely win (Lamar, Rice, SMU, Louisiana Monroe)

4 games where they should be the underdog (@SC tonight @Alabama @Auburn home to LSU)

other 4 games are toss ups at this point (Arkansas in Dallas, @ Miss. St. home against Ole Miss and home against Mizzou)

I predict either an 8-4 record or 9-3 best case scenario. If the bottom falls out though they could finish 6-6 or worse.

I have the SEC network with my Xfinity package. I just checked my streaming video online and it works. I'll post my username and password on here later if you contribute to the tipjar

IMO, the real question is how Sumlin fares without a standout QB. History says not very well at all. Will be a rough year for A&M and the shine will come off Sumlin.

Like I've been saying, I have a lot of worries about this season, QB isn't a main concern. TAMU lost one of the greatest college QB's of all time. But it's not like they're replacing him with trash. Also keep in mind just about every other decent team in the SEC has a new starting QB this season.

QB isn't necessarily a problem. It's just not as good without Manziel. And that isn't exactly bad.

While Kenny Hill isn't Johnny Manziel, he has the pedigree to be successful. I would say that Hill has a decent chance at becoming something good under Sumlin. I would also say that there's an equal chance that we may see Kyle Allen starting before the end of the season. I do think that we are in a decent position when it comes to quarterback depth, however. Much like last year, this season's W-L record is going to come down to the defense.
