so will it be Ricky rubio to the Rockets , Eric Bledsoe to the Wolves, and draft picks and players to Suns???
Anyone care to fill me on why people are saying it's Rubio now?? I've been stuck under a pile of work all day.
This Bledsoe situation is interesting because it mirrors the Rockets of 2 years ago. We had a 9th seeded team, Dragic and Lowry. Morey was faced with the free agency of Dragic, and either overpay Dragic to keep him or let him go. We ultimately chose to let him go, while signing a replacement in Lin, which was probably the right move, even with Lin being awful. Little did we know the Harden trade was around the corner and keeping Dragic probably would have yielded better results. Interesting to see how it plays out. Phoenix has already signed Isiah Thomas, and it seemly makes little sense to to have 2 max contracts (Bledsoe + Dragic's impending contract), one well paid backup and a talented rookie all at the PG spot in Phoenix, all the while not even having a guaranteed playoff spot.
I need an update. Haven't really followed these threads much so i'm lost. What is the scuttlebutt on getting Bledsoe and can someone give me a % chance we land him? Thanks fellas.
No, I just thought it was funny that the Rockets Instagram posted that picture as we're all here speculating about whether we could possibly land Dragic in a trade.
CyberX is still saying that there's been minimal contact between the Rockets' organization and the teams of the potential point guard upgrades discussed in this thread. Plowman still seems pretty confident that we'll be landing a major upgrade pretty soon. I think he said he was "99% sure."
If you're not following along, read this: The insiders guarantee was never really just Dragic or Bledsoe. It was that we'd get a major upgrade at PG. Because of the situation out in Phoenix, I assume that was the most logical place for Morey to hit up first. It hasn't developed the way it was anticipated, which is what is holding things up. Plowman identified 4 targets: Dragic, Bledsoe, Rondo, and Rubio. What this means is, any one of these 4 can come into the picture. My guess is, Dragic is out now and we're waiting for Bledsoe to decide, then likely move on to Rondo and then Rubio....Because Plowman's sources seem so sure a deal is coming, I would also guess they already have a deal in place for Rondo or Rubio, or even both.
It's possible that there is a followup trade that has a time limit on it so something needs to get done regarding the pg. Is it likely, probably not.
Not really. His original post in this thread was 100% Dragic, which of course made no sense considering the Suns themselves had no notion regarding how the Bledsoe situation was going to be resolved. Despite that, they had supposedly already agreed to trade their better asset? The additions to the list came in subsequent posts after people questioned his original claims. The notion that the team's assets are so overwhelming that teams are just lining up to trade their point guards is nonsensical. They might be able to pry one loose, but it'll take every asset in the cupboard and will likely require a long term commitment. I'm not sure that the team is willing to take either of those steps without the return being a clear 3rd star. If they were then Parsons would likely still be a Rocket.
While inside info definitely exists (I believe Plowman) you can't look at it as definitive. It is just closer to the organization that the average person is. Still giant room for error. I am sure that 30-40 people could know that we were in heavy talks with PHO but only 3-4 people know what we are actually going to do. My guess is that a lot of this is coming from folks in the 30-40 group. The information is undoubtedly good. These guys make mistakes in naming timelines.
I'm referring to what the insiderS said. Drew started all this, not Plowman. And no one is saying the assets are overwhelming or that teams are lining up to trade us their point guards.
I would also guess they already have a deal in place for Rondo or Rubio, or even both. Seemed like that was implied. My bad if I misinterpreted.
What I mean is, they plan on going after all these guys in a certain order. It doesn't necessarily mean they are all available or that their teams are eager to trade with us. The plan is to try, just like with Melo and Bosh....however, because the insiders insist an upgrade will happen, I'm inclined to believe at least one of those can be had for what we have. That guy would basically be the back up plan, if all else fails. I'm assuming it's Rubio, but it could be Rondo.
