United were relatively stable under SAF for several years buying as needed and not just splashing the cash everywhere like Chelsea or Man City.

Now that era is over. It is time to invest all that revenue generated into buying some top end talent for this new regimen.

Having said that. United still trail Chelski and City vastly in gross purchased as well as per season net.

    # Nett Spend 03/04 - 13/14
    Purchased Sold Nett Per Season

    1 Chelsea £899,159,000 £310,800,000 £588,359,000 £49,029,917
    2 City £759,920,000 £210,800,000 £549,120,000 £45,760,000
    3 United £519,950,000 £251,150,000 £268,800,000 £22,400,000
    4 Liverpool £608,180,000 £372,080,000 £236,100,000 £19,675,000

They will make it count but it's not like we are subject to making it count ASAP. City took several seasons before all that expenditure paid off.

Sugar daddy needed to come in to level the playing field between those clubs and Manchester United.

But now that the playing field is level, Manchester United will never be as dominant as they were in the past, and are in crisis mode at the moment.

ManU 0:4 vs. Milton, lulz. But it's good, they can focus on winning the CL now. Oh, wait...

Saw this at Marca which pretty much is tabloid now, any of it reported on German papers!? Would be a big surprise. I guess Pep trying to get back at Madrid for taking Kroos and also since Javi is out.

    I don't get it.
    Isn't MK Dons a League 1 team?
Like literally two leagues below Premier.

    How did this happen?
Is this as big of a WTF as I think it is? Or was this always in the realm of possibility?

Can someone give me an NBA/basketball equivalent to how bad this was.

It happens in cup competition esp. when the big teams play away from home. The smaller teams have nothing to lose against the reserve sides of the big teams so they give it all plus a really vocal crowd. Makes for exciting cup ties.

A few years back unheralded Alcorcon beat Madrid 4-0.

My best NBA equivalent would be an average D league team (MK Dons) blowing out a fairly good NBA team (Bulls) 140 - 80

That's pretty insane to me, and I can't imagine it ever happening in the NBA.

I think the players look like they have no idea what their responsibilities are in a back 3. I think LVG needs to give up the 3-5-2 and go back to a 4 man back line. The signing of Di Maria may give him that chance since it gives him someone who can operate down the wings.

Doesn't make much sense to me, unless he's going to be purely a backup for when Basti is taking a break. He is clearly several steps below Basti and even below Kroos.

Edit: P.S.: I am tired of Pep constantly buying Spanish players.

For those of you the made EPL fantasy team, how's your team doing? I had to drop Giroud yesterday and now Diego Costa might be out for 6 weeks grrrr. Vlaar and Bojan also doubtful.

Don't know, some people think Basti pulled a Jeremies for this WC and sacrificed his career for the title. But even then, we only really have him and Thiago as real 6s, and both of them likely won't play til at least October.
I'd rather start a Xabi than a Hojbjerg or Gaudino in CL or crucial league matches, don't know about you.

Also, he'll only be here for one or two years and won't stay in the way of our youngsters. Should also be able to teach the young guys a lot.

BILD says it's a done deal and already knows the transfer fee and his yearly salary, this basically makes it official.

Champions League draw tomorrow morning. PSG, Juventus, Dortmund and Man City all have a chance to be drawn with a powerhouse from Pot 1.

Hoping LFC's group will look something like: Porto, Basel, Maribor.
