Well, there ARE people new to TMNT. A comparison is GotG - obviously, the characters of GotG aren't as known as the TMNT, but I didn't do try to research any of the members of GotG before I watched that movie. I'm sure many people new to TMNT didn't do any research on its characters before heading into the movie either. Just because you know their personalities doesn't mean everyone else does.

    Speaking of personalities though,:

Raph wasn't even that angry in the film. And he wanted to break apart from the Turtles, as he mentioned early in the film, because...? No explanation was given. Mikey was supposed to this "body of a man, brain of a child" character, but he hit on April a lot. More so than necessary. Leo was barely a leader. They got Donnie right though. Thought they should have had Donnie hit on April the most, since it mirrors the 2012 cartoon. And since both the cartoon and this movie were both associated with Nick, I thought there'd be more of a parallel, since kids currently would be the most interested in the movie. Hell, it would have given Donnie more to do in the film.

I don't even know why Whoopi Goldberg signed on for this. If it wasn't for "because they're paying me a crapton of money!" then I have no clue what for.

I got the chance to watch this for free, and honestly if you just turn your brain off like any movie that involves Michael Bay I think it can be enjoyable. I watched TMNT as a kid but it's been a while so I couldn't remember everything about it which probably made the movie seem better than it really is.

The personality of the turtles were great, Megan Fox actually showed the teeny little bit of range she has in her acting but she still was quite terrible. Plot holes were everywhere but at least there were good action scenes to keep you entertained.

Terrible movies are the ones where I wish I was watching something else, at least TMNT kept me intrigued. I might actually pay for a sequel, it showed some potential.

Well, see... Donnie's too bright to be interested in Megan Fox...

Pretty much disagree with all of this.

Raf very clearly says he says he threatens to leave because he is insecure about how good he is with relation to his brothers. He thinks they are better and that manifests into fits and possibly leaving because he doesn't deserve to serve with his brothers. He seemed pretty raggey at times. Every scene would have made it mean less if he seemed angry with no motivation. It would have felt really 1 dimensional.

I don't think they or anyone else care about the cartoon. Mikey was SUPER immature and all of his come ons totally felt like an eager and immature 15 year old. It was a good contrast between him and the other turtles. I was really surprised with how much I liked him. It would have taken away from Donnie's dorkyness if he was hitting on April. His dialogue should be rooted in things central to his character as the smart tech savy turtle and awkward come ons aren't that. Maybe in a sequel when they have time to develop a relationship but donnie making meaningless come ons to April would be really distracting.

I see what you mean about Leo. He felt like a leader to me but I think that translates to being a little boring sometimes. He is basically the straight man who sets up his brothers and then also pushes the story along.

Woppi sucked. If you edited her and most of Megan Fox only scenes out of the film it would have been so much better.

Everyone who loves the TMNT should see it. Just arrive 20 minutes late and then leave for popcorn after the rooftop scene and you will be golden. You'll have missed all of the April Oneal scenes before it gets Turtle heavy.

That doesn't make any sense. Why would Raph leave the only family he has ever known? And what's Raph going to do - he has never had contact (or maybe barely had contact) with the outside world. He can't go outside, but he also "can't" be with his family. Does he think the world is going to accept him if he goes outside? Is he going to be a loner, living in another part of the sewer? So what if you're insecure? This is what you have Splinter for - to offer guidance and advice. Raph calls them his "brothers," yet rather than hashing things out with them, he wants to leave. smh

It also wasn't clearly stated by Raph - not sure if you were watching the same movie. Raph has the line about wanting to leave early in the film, and then that particular strand of story isn't explored until the very end where they're free-falling through the air. If the director wanted us to care about Raph's story, they failed.

Immature =/= being a flirt. I would have accepted Mikey having one-liners about how hot April is, but it was weird seeing Mikey try to get with April, constantly.

Being a smart, tech-savvy turtle is fine, but that can still lead to awkward conversations with April just fine. I'm not saying Donnie has to be head-over-heels / love at first sight with April - but they could have split up the love interest part between Mikey and Donnie a bit. Again, it would have given Donnie more to do in the film. Mikey and his humor already establishes his character. Awkwardness between Donnie and April wouldn't have been distracting to me.

I think Leo barked out one or two orders throughout the entire film. Some leader. You almost forget that he's there sometimes - not that he's invisible, but that he can just be "the fourth turtle" instead of "Leo, the leader."

Anyway, I think Mikey was given too much to do, Raph had just the right amount of things, and Leo and Donnie were way underutilized.
