Just because Troy Daniels is working on building PG skills does not mean the Rockets are giving him time at the one. In the event of injuries or non-performance by other players, you need bench players who understand multiple roles.

    The way I see this,

is Morey going to offer him a 2 year deal with the second year being a team option in the 3 mils range per.

This way, Morey basically can part away couple small minor contracts which we are going to cut anyway into a possible trade assets at the end of the year.

EG. Hopson + Covington + Cannan or maybe Gee + Hopson/Covington/Cannan

Reading is key..it's not simply because I stated several reasons that you for personal reasons choose to ignore.

He is no more than the role of Ben Gordon (Magic) if the Rockets really want to get him.

Which is to fill up a cap number while can be a possible trade asset later.

That kind of an insult. Ben Gordon is actually better than Sessions.

It makes plenty of sense if we are planning to have Sessions as our backup pg. I don't see why people think this means that some other big PG is imminent.

If we get Sessions it means we are turning our attention to PF.

    To make it real simple....

96 minutes available at PG and SG combined

Harden - 36 minutes minimum (38 last year)
Beverley - 30 minutes minimum (31 last year)
Daniels - 15 minutes minimum (17 per in the playoffs)

That leaves 15 minutes for Sessions, Canaan, Ish, and Johnson. Obviously we will play some small ball (which will increase the minutes available for guards), but that is almost always situational. You don't do that for long stretches night to night.

And don't forget the plan is to bring over Sergio Llull next year.

If we acquire Sessions, then we're almost certainly trading away Canaan and/or Beverley. Both if we're trading for a PG, and one if for a PF.

If Daniels plays alongside Harden in a standard lineup he'll have to defend 1's. He's working on his ball-handling and defense because the Rockets want him to play some minutes at the 1 to take advantage of his superb shooting alongside Harden with other shooters on the floor.

That means less than 48 minutes left for the other point guards to take.

Think of it this way. 144 minutes available on the perimeter. Harden, Ariza, and Bev (if he is still on the team) will get 90 of those minutes. Daniels will most likely get another 20 minutes. Canaan or Sessions (if we acquire him) along with another SF behind Ariza are going to take up the remaining minutes. There won't be minutes on this team for Ish barring a series of injuries.

that is.....unless Morey is clearing out Beverley and Canaan from the roster in trade.

Any thoughts of Morey will trade away Bev is crazy and silly.

Unless we are going to get a superstar type of PG like Chris Paul, Bev is going no where.

He will be paid almost nothing for 2 more years and he is the no. 1 defender not named Howard in this team.

Look at the type of players Morey acquired this offseason, we are going for defense and toughness.

There is no way Morey will give up Bev for anything except the superstar PG.

Au contraire, my friend. Dragic, Rubio, and Bledsoe are all plus defenders. Sessions would become your bench facilitator, and you aren't taking away Daniel's minutes.

Now obviously I'd like to keep Bev, but there's not enough minutes to share between Harden, Bledsoe, Beverley, Sessions and Daniels.

It makes sense that Bev might have to be included in another deal for a PG but Daniels working on skills at the 1 is more about future potential lineup combinations, flexibility for moves that might happen, or really just for emergencies (like the emergergency QB or emergency catcher) versus getting actual time.

    Common sense,

the Rockets turned down a max contract for Parsons which does not require them to part away any assets while has a shorter term,

and now you really believe they will offer a max 4 years to Bledsoe whose having way too many questions marks on his health and we also need to give away assets to the Suns?
