Faried is a real trade possibility because Denver was trying to trade him last year and they also wanted to trade him for a first rounder in the 2014 draft so we could offer pelicans pick and filler they also offered him in a Kevin love trade

I wouldn't go that far. Faried has a great post game, and is crazy athletic. Neither are long term solutions at PF.

Let's revisit PF. Here's a list of all above average starting PFs in the league:

    Kevin Love - Not available
    Anthony Davis - Not available
    Blake Griffin - Not available
    Dirk Nowitzki - Not available
    LMA - Unlikely, but possible
Kenneth Faried - Doesn't fit with Dwight or Harden
    Paul Millsap - Possible
    Serge Ibaka - Not available
David Lee - Doesn't fit with Dwight or Harden
    Ryan Anderson - Possible
    Zach Randolph - Not available
Greg Monroe - Doesn't fit with Dwight or Harden
    Chris Bosh - Not available
    Pau Gasol - Not available
    Boris Diaw - Not available

So the only players that represent a significant improvement at PF, are available, and fit with this team are LMA, Ryan Anderson, and Paul Millsap.

For Anderson and Millsap, I think if we believed they were the missing piece, they would already be on this team. Millsap at last years trade deadline, and Anderson in the Asik trade. To be clear, it's not that we don't want them......just that they don't represent a big enough upgrade to deplete our assets for.

Morey, IMO, is still holding out for LMA. As unlikely it is that he comes here, he does represent a significant upgrade. Perhaps Portland suffers a significant injury and LMA demands a trade at the deadline. Otherwise, we are holding out for an upgrade at PG.

Zach Lowe is a great read and very good on almost everything he writes. Just a couple points here:

    1. He's not comparing Faried to Terrence. You guys are doing that and you're coming up with this bs that Terrence is better defensively because you're staring at this RPM metric that many basketball guys including myself laugh at because of the obvious error in it.

    2. Zach Lowe is not accounting for team defensive scheme from Denver. Their defensive scheme, and what they ask their bigs to do.....is bad. They need a new defensive coach and scheme. You don't have to watch them but for a few minutes to see it.

Your point on chemistry is valid, this requires continuity and improvement.
What DM needs to focus is on improvement in coaching right now, while looking for an opportunity to upgrade the team.

The players need to focus on individual improvement. Luckily, it is the off season for them with fewer distractions.

Cyberx shared that the Rockets would love to have him.

    That's it, I think.

Poor defensive scheme or not, Denver has always played worse defense with Faried on the floor. Doesn't matter the lineup.

Faried would be trade bait. He can't play with Harden and Howard any more than TJones can play with Harden and Howard. Neither are good defensively, and neither can shot.

Houston's pursuit of Faried both this season and last season has everything to do with upgrading assets. If the rockets can get him for cheaper than he's worth on the market, then why not? "Names" seem to be worth more than production in the league, and Faried has a name.

the point was there wasn't much of a significant difference between the two and that Faried was never known to have defense as a strength. And it still isn't. they essentially both have the same problems when it comes to guarding the legit pf's in the league.

So we are getting a shorter terence jones? Morey has either just burnt out since the Bosh debacle or he is flat put on some really bad medication. T jones just needs to bulk up. Is he the best option at pf? From what we learned in the playoffs. That is a no. But if we are making a trade it needs to be for an upgrade not lateral movements that require chemistry rebuilding.

    Plowman,

You've given us a pretty good list of PGs to watch. Can you do the same for PFs?

If TJones had about another inch and 10 more pounds he would be perfect he'd be 6'10 260
