I'm actually pretty fearful that we'll replace Dominguez, or let Krauss walk, only to have them blossom as they mature. Knowing our luck, I practically expect it to happen.

More power to Krauss if he excels elsewhere... I just don't see that happening here. Where would he play? I would rather see Grossman/Marisnick get a hard look at left once Springer returns than Krauss. And Singleton is not being moved from first.

Also, I can't believe I have now openly supported Grossman. Never thought I would see the day.

Meanwhile, in actual Astros minor league news....

Nick Tanielu went 3-3 in the NY penn League All Star game and took home MVP honors.

DJ Fisher went 0-1, and the game ended in a ...tie. :(

This is not directed at you, but it blows my mind that a defensive specialist (granted, he did show some power in lower levels of minors before being brought to the show quickly) would be considered for LF. I know the Astros like Fowler and they get good production from him for the buck, but Fowler should be in left when Springer returns. I don't understand Porter on this one.

Oh I agree very much. I was looking past Porter's inability to play him in left. It makes no sense at all whatsoever. That being said, someone has to play there if Fowler isn't.

I guess it is time to make home field advantage in the World Series be decided by the NY-Penn All-Star Game.

With Troepeano's dominant performance last night (into the 8th, 8 k's, 2 hits), I sure hope that when rosters expand in a couple of weeks he takes over our 5th rotation spot

Beast. Expecting him to start in CC next year with a chance to jump to OKC really fast.

    Ouch so far.

Now 6k for Appel. He is starting to strike guys out and isn't walking a lot of people, just giving up too many hits.

Why does he keep having these bad innings each start?

I'll take starting bad and finishing strong... over the opposite of that every single time.

Appel just strikes me as the type of pitcher who needs increased pressure/a bigger stage to get focused and pitch his best. He was under an immense amount of pressure his senior year of college, after turning down the first round pick the year before... and he shined. He probably won't face that sort of pressure again till he's in the majors.

Short of completely falling on his face (which he most definitely is not doing right now), he'll get his chance eventually... if he proves me right, great... if he falters (or is just mediocre/average), then all the minor league concerns will end up being legit.

It's like he is a rookie or something.

Me too. I'm mostly curious if it is just a sample size thing, or if he is having issues warming up or messing up his mechanics temporarily.

Brett Phillips loving himself some California league.

    5-5 with 3 doubles, now rocking a .380/.444/.634 line
