So what you're saying is that MS is still trying. You can fault them all you want, but they are still at it. Like I said earlier, does the PS4 really make your dick bigger? Some of you really act like it does.

Personally, I love how they are using the technologies in the Xbox and extending them outward to other products. Surgeons will be able to navigate their PCs using the technology in Kinect, the voice controls have extended to services like Cortana and will extend to the desktop realm eventually. Even if the Xbox is a flop (which is a hasty comment to make) the technology in it is actually quite forward thinking and probably will be found in a lot of future windows products.

I dont think the pic was directed at MS or XBox itself, it was for some of their fans.

The chalkboard is a reference of a PS3 meme from last generation:

I think there was a WiiU one out there too (again, playing off of the PS3 meme).

The takeaway here is that if you think any one thing (particularly one game) will "save" a console, you're wrong.

Actually the PS3 was "saved" and ended up selling more than the 360 worldwide.

It's funny that price drop isn't on the ps3 chalkboard. That's actually what saved it. That's when I bought one, haha

True, but how the PS3 was "saved" kinda demonstrates my point. Lair didn't save the PS3. Heavenly Sword didn't. Uncharted didn't. Home didn't. MGS4 didn't. LittleBigPlanet didn't. Etc.

You had to take all of those (and more). An improving PR campaign. Some price cuts. Some hardware redesigns. Some poor decisions by competitors. And a lot of time. All of that helped create a more "healthy" situation for the PS3 (and "save" it).

To apply that to current-gen consoles:

    * Mario Kart won't save the WiiU, but a slew of new games, better 3rd party support, a price cut, a more reasonable online strategies, etc., might.

    * Halo won't save the XBO, but a slew of new games, better PR, better support overseas, etc., might.

    * Final Fantasy won't save the PS4 in Japan, but getting more support from Japanese developers and...well...never mind, console gaming is dead in Japan, RIP Japanese PS4.

There are a number of factors that help dictate how well a console sells. These things can rarely be broken down into just one or two factors. In some cases, it might not even be known exactly why a console sells the way it does. Sony doesn't even seem to fully understand why the PS4 has sold as well as it has, and they're actually really afraid of that (because they don't know what they can do to continue it).

I'm buying an XB1 on Friday what are some good games out? I enjoy sports games (not madden), shooters, and adventure games. 2k15 will be preordered Friday also... I'll research recommendations while here at work. Also how convenient is the "snap" feature?

I've had the One since launch, and thus far, and the only game that I have played the seems like a legit next gen experience is Titanfall. I got more than my money's worth out of it, as I put in quite a few hours online.

Both Ryse and Dead Rising 3 intrigued me, but I ultimately passed on them. But since they are a little older, you can probably find a good deal on them, which could interest you.

Not sure if that helped at all, but I hope it does.

my bro says that titanfall is the truth, he's a big cod fanboy but suggested I pass on it. I will probably buy titanfall and see if I can find a copy of 2k14 online as I know i'll put in plenty of playing time on it as rotating schedules and studio/recording time will allow.

What saved the PS3 was it was a "good" Blu-ray player that was bundled with TV's like no tomorrow. There are millions of PS3's that don't play any games.

Blurays aren't even close to popular. If it was you would have PS2 sale numbers because the PS2 WAS sold as a dvd player.

That did help but I loved the PS3 for the random things it could do. Plus it being free online probably swayed some people. My PS3 was stolen with my PS4 and I could only afford to replace the PS4. (Luckily all of my save files were backed up online) I think the PS3 might be one of my fav systems to date. Just so reliable. I miss it....I liked being able to use the media server and be able to watch anything through a USB if needed. I am sure Xbox did that also which Im sure was also nice. It is funny though to look back at when the PS3 first came out, barely any of the features that I loved were included. They all came through upgraded firmware.

    Playing 3D games and movies
    (mainly p*rn)
was pretty damn cool also. God of War, Uncharted and Batman were great 3D.....of course gimmicky ha. The web browser came in handy for being able to download movies from certain sites straight to the system or to watch rockets games when I could not get them through cable. PS Plus gave a ton of free games if you chose to sign up for it. I was surprised at the games they gave away as a bonus.
