This makes no sense. Dragic was traded for Aaron Brooks, a player who had average 20 points and 5 assists the season before the trade. Lin was traded for nothing. I have to disagree with Lin being trash, though. If he made 4million for one year with no balloon payment, he'd have had value in a trade.
Lin is not trash.....he did choke and cost us 2 games in the playoffs, but he also started playing better after the choke jobs which is a sign of strong character. It was his first full playoff series and he started stepping up more as the playoffs went on. He actually hit the go ahead 3 with little time left in one of the last games only to have it not count because Asik stupidly grabbed a player who was not going to change the go ahead shot. He also made a nice no look passes to Daniels for a game winning shot. We will certainly be fine without Lin, but he may surprise a few people this year.
I don't think Lin will surprise anyone by putting up gaudy numbers on the Lakers. Hell, Kent Bazemore put up gaudy numbers on the Lakers last season... he was a fantasy basketball *goldmine* after that GSW trade. Should be a great system for him stats-wise, so long as Kobe is limited (which isn't something I'm hoping for, but suspect may be the reality).
1) durant >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lin 2) how many games has lin started for the rockets 3) how old was he then and now? 4) how many minutes did lin avg per season for the rockets? 5) the money lin was making affected his play?
I said Lin is not trash. It's his salary that gives him negative trade value. He could be a backup guard for a good team, and put up decent numbers on a poor team.
This. Only scenario that could work against Lin is if Byron Scott sticks to the defense mantra that he normally preaches. Lin's a good on ball defender but we all know he got major issues when his man doesn't have the ball. Either laziness or over helping, whatever it is, he gets killed on back cuts.
1) duh?! 2)3)4)5) money did not affect, it was coaching and the teammate's configuration. Harden and McFail, they do not mesh with Lin. Therefore Lin was developed the way it should be. The bottom line is: No PG could flourish without the ball. No player could develop properly without a large amount of trust from his coach.
While this is true, a coach can't afford unwavering, unconditional trust in a player that has been somewhat inconsistent. It's a two way street. The player has to take coaching (trying not to laugh here) and prove that he deserves that trust, and the coach has to teach (again the chuckling) and trust the player. Whether or not Lin deserved to be trusted more than he was will always be debated.
This is truly getting exciting. I feel we're on the cusp of total agreement on the subject, and a new era of understanding of something that can have no clarity or solution.
Lin on that stupid bloated contract = HOT GARBAGE and negative value Lin on $4-5 million per year = average back up PG with some value which is what he is or rather should be
correct and since this thread is talking about the Lin trade then contract will have to be considered Morey had to trade Lin because he was HOT GARBAGE be disgusted at Miami for being too stupid to offer an ageing and regressing Bosh the full 5 year max salary as their best player without no other active superstar around him
I can wish Jeremy the best of luck, but anyone who makes $15 million coming off the bench doesn't really need luck He's straight up in the Joy Luck Club
