I'll disagree here: In RFA, Morey's MO is to let the market determine value, and I think that's a wise approach. No need to bid against yourself without knowing what the market will do. See how PHX and DET are handling Bledsoe and Monroe now.

Also the play was for Bosh first. DM doesn't commit to a max contract prematurely with Parson's without knowing what happens with Bosh.

Wish there was a way to bring Rondo..... With Rondo, Houston can beat anyone.... My somewhat realistic dream player in a Rockets uniform...

Folks talks about the "poison" provisions-- the trade kicker and the player option-- as if they are solely aimed at making things difficult for the Rockets and are not things that Parsons himself would benefit from in a contract. I don't think this view is correct: These provisions do benefit Chandler Parsons.

First, obviously the player option is of value to Parsons. In summer 2016, when the NBA's salary cap is expected to be substantially higher than it is now, Parsons gets to either opt out if his market value warrants a higher $ amount than he is owed under the current contract or opt in if his market value is substantially lower than what he is owed for 2016-17. This choice has a real monetary value.

Second, Parsons, like most players, would most likely value having control over where he plays. The ideal scenario would be to play a competitive team in a good market for the entire length of the contract. Being dangled often in trade talks and being at risk for getting traded to, say, Utah are thing that Chandler Parsons probably doesn't enjoy very much. So, having a contract provisions that makes it less likely for him to be traded (or at least compensate him a few million bucks for being traded) is something that benefits Chandler Parsons.

If Parsons has a 3 year offer with a player options and a trade kicker (plus a 1 year veto right if Houston matches) and a 3 year "straight up" offer, then all else being roughly equal, the former offer is much more desirable than the latter one.

And now the contract is his. Sorry CP is history, but frankly the timing of when the sheet had to be matched meant ciao.

Ugh... CyberX, Plowman....... Can yall in any way suggest Rondo to The Rockets... Call your source up and be like..... "I got it! this is the missing piece" Please? I cant imagine how teams would feel with having to face Rondo as a starter and Beverley right after.... Best pg convo in the league....

Rondo would be a cancer on this team.

Salvy, It's understandable because it's a looong thread, but earlier I pointed out that he is, predictably on the short list.

    Hey Plowman

Earlier on you were saying that Dragic was our most likely option

    Is this still the case?

I love Rondo, but in the last four years he's missed 13, 28, 44 and 52 games. He's a huge risk.

Thank you soo much! And yeah I completely missed it.... I understand people's concern with Rondo but nobody is going to have his heart/experience/tenacity to win...... Would be a great fit with Harden and Howard in my opinion.....

This tells me enough about Rondo...the guy is a gamer...and will give it his all. If Rondo comes to Houston, the Rockets really have a chance to do something special.

If I had to rank the 4 guys that have been discussed here (not rumored):

    1) Dragic
    2) Rubio
    3a) Rondo
    3b) Bledsoe

Dragic is almost too perfect a fit.

Rubio can't shoot. I get that. But if he ever does develop a shot, he will surpass CP3 as the best PG in the league within 3 years. I want him on the Rockets.

Rondo and Bledsoe are on the same level for me. Both have injury concerns. Rondo is proven but older. Bledsoe is unproven, but younger. Their games are completely different.

    lol

He would maybe be the worst fit of any NBA player with Harden. I do agree he is a great player but just a bad fit on the Rockets.
