we're talking about American citizens, Iraqis have nothing to do with it When the person is for example not armed you should still shoot to kill, not trying to prevent his death as much as you can, as a human being, killing someone shouldn't be one of your last options. Kill the animal who cares. Then you gonna put out that a guy was a criminal, so he had it coming anyways, right? Awesome
If the situation is not sufficient to shoot to kill, then the trigger should have never been pulled. Depending on the situation, perhaps the gun should have never even been drawn. If you pull the trigger, you should expect the person you are pointing the gun at will die. If the situation doesn't warrant deadly force, the gun is the wrong tool. The people who are talking about "police should wound" or "police should have revolvers with fewer bullets", while well meaning, are just blurring the lines, making it easier for police to use deadly force by making a gun seem less serious and permanent than it actually is. Then, when police kill someone involved in a nonviolent crime, and the suspects die, the Police can claim that they were trying to wound them, or whatever. Pull the trigger = you should be justified in killing.
What point are you trying to make...??? Officer Wilson had no intentions of arresting anyone. He didn't even know about Brown being involved in the alleged store incident.
'How is democracy treating you guys?' ISIS militants take to social media to encourage Ferguson protesters to embrace Islamic extremism ISIS militants and their supporters are using social media to encourage protesters in Ferguson to embrace radical Islam and fight against the U.S. government. Jihadists in Syria and Iraq and their sympathisers in the West have taken to Twitter to send messages of support to hundreds of demonstrators taking part in a ninth night of angry protests in the U.S. city following the shooting by police of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown. The militants' tweets denounce local officers for the way they have attempted to quell the violence, make reference to historic acts of police brutality, and even use the hashtag #FergusonUnderISIS in an attempt to get angry young men in the city to declare allegiance to the Islamist group. I have no problem with shoot to kill. I say they should have revolvers because when 3 or 4 of them get together they tend to unload dozens of bullets and kill other people. It is just a fact they shoot more bullets when they have semi-autos instead of revolvers.
Eh, if I'm a cop I'd want a semi-auto. Revolvers suck. Especially if you're alone and there's more than one target. Or, you kn ow, your target's moving (always) or takes more than a couple to go down (often).
Well as a public servant what you want doesn't always mesh with what you get. Revolvers are reliable and will promote less spray and pray techniques the cops have adopted.
Yeah that would be my choice as well, semi-auto .45. That said, there's still no excuse for needing to fire 10 shots at one guy without body armor, that's just poor marksmanship.
It would probably lead to more dead cops though, there's a reason why they moved away from them in the first place.
Just a general question, how good of marksman is an average police officer. How much training do you think they get
I saw a study in NYC that measured range accuracy vs line of duty accuracy that indicated much of the poor real world accuracy comes from actually shooting at a human being while being shot at. There is a drastic difference between the two situations. IIRC, the only situation where real world accuracy is above 50% is when they are shooting dogs. I don't know how you can fix that. Edit: Looked for the study, couldn't find it, but did find NYPD hit rate for shots fired is 34%, while LAPD is between 27% and 29%. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/empire-...ng-sparks-questions-about-nypd-shot-accuracy/
Well the best way to deal with that is to shoot at targets that look like people at the range. The more closely you can simulate reality, the better you can train someone. The fear factor I think has more to do with the really poor accuracy. No one really thinks a dog is going to kill them, they think it is going to bit them and it'll hurt, when you are faced with another human, the threat of them killing you is real. That kills accuracy if you aren't trained well enough.
I think it's pretty clear at this point that right or wrong, they'll try to prosecute the cop for shooting the fun loving kid that broke his face if for no other reason than to pacify the mob that has formed the last 2 weeks or so. The question is, where would they find a jury? You can't really pick a jury in Ferguson because they are ready to lynch him right now, it wouldn't exactly be a fair trial so where do you go?
