True, that can be a factor, it can also be that German police is not hunting their own citizens, n shooting to kill every time they have to shoot/draw their weapon, who knows.
nope but i dont agree with shoot to kill, like you do. I believe in preventing death as much as possible, that killing someone should be cops last resort not first.
That's fair. I'd hope though that if you were ever in that situation you'd convert to being a believer of shooting to kill, doing otherwise can get you killed.
That differs from province to province. The stats are skewed because some provinces like Quebec are extremely homogeous while major cities like Toronto and Vancouver have almost half of their population being foreign born
As far as this latest shooting. It sounds like this was a case of suicide by cop. I'm not sure how much could've been done by the police if this person was determined to be shot.
Well yeah, but those are the overall numbers and I was showing that even the "foreign born" Canadians are still fairly homogeneous in that a huge majority of them are from only a few parts of Western Europe. Another factor is that those few "major cities" aren't that big compared to American cities. only one metro area in Canada would be in the top 10 in America....and it would be 10. The next largest Canadian metro area wouldn't be in the top 20 in America.
Actually Montreal has a metro population of 3.8 million which would put it 14th if it was in the US and ahead of such regions as Seattle, Minneapolis, Denver San Diego and St. Louis where Ferguson is located. Anyway as other stats show while Canada and Germany are less diverse than the US when counted as a whole country the difference isn't that great. In all three countries racial diversity is concentrated in urban areas.
True but we are talking about race otherwise what is point of citing "black" which also encompasses different cultural backgrounds too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LSBpwmMnVM Did he deserve to die? Chokehold was not necessary, what happened to the cop? He got stripped away from his badge wow, n might face chargers. But who knows he might get off with not guilty, cause its justified.
And half of Toronto isn't white either. Do you agree then that citing the racial makeup of as country as a whole isn't very applicable to the discussion.
Did he deserve to die? No, did he deserve to be dropped to the ground physically? Yes. He died because he was asthmatic, fat, and stupid enough to argue and fight with cops instead of just letting them arrest him. That said, they probably went over the top and we'll see what happens when the "chokehold" cop goes to trial.
I don't believe a big portion of the majority in Canada made slaves of one race, almost wiped out another, and looks down on minorities in general... Unless they play sports. There's no comparison. The racial tension in many parts of this country isn't like it is there.
The issues in St. Louis are different. There is a struggle between the two dominant racial groups, that's got nothing to do with crime overall. Racial makeup is less relevant than ethnic makeup but I do agree that no matter what the overall numbers are there can be exceptions like Toronto where the demographics are radically different.
I don't see your point. Didn't the cop get disciplined? Isn't he potentially facing charges? I'm not defending the chokehold takedown, but would it have happened if the guy just let the cops arrest him peacefully? I'm fine with the cop getting fired or facing charges for using a banned tactic, but the fat guy played a part in his own death.
Any time you point a gun at someone and pull the trigger, you should be shooting to kill. To do otherwise, is like the concept of starting a limited nuclear war. A gun is a death machine. That should be fully understood by everybody. It isn't a tazer (which of course is lethal more often than people think). If you try to use it half way, you are just increasing the chance of errant bullets flying around to hit innocent people and you are giving the other person an opportunity to return fire and injure more people. If you want to take issue, do it over the conditions under which it is acceptable to use the pistol. When the war in Iraq started. I heard all sorts of people talk about how "it wasn't fair" that our weapons were so much better than what the Iraqis had... Thank god for that! "Fairness" has no place when you are taking drastic action like that. You use deadly force to kill the other guy, so that you don't die yourself. You aren't playing Monopoly. Half measures are idiotic and the sentiment is completely misplaced.. And don't lie to yourself. that you are shooting someone, but they'll go to the hospital and be alright. When you shoot, you should expect to take a life and have a clear understanding of what that means.
