Lmao... The way he keeps referring to his 99er status, Tinman might think he represents the 99ers but something tells me that most 99ers would be happy to get rid of him so he won't embarrass the 99ers anymore he probably senses it too that's why he keeps mentioning his "status", he is feeling insecure... Poor dude
This trade wasnt made in a vacuum, Morey thought he was getting Bosh and had to make a decision. If he new Bosh wasn't coming he wouldn't have made that trade. He might still have been traded but it wouldn't have been for cap space. Only reason it was cap space ie "nothing" was to fit the Bosh contract. Why do you forget, or choose to forget, the context for this trade?
I would've been pissed if Morey pulled of the trade because it meant we just absorbed 8M (15M for the owner) in salary for a 2nd backup of a team that got owned in the first round. If we look at it in absolute terms the 2nd best backup or 7th best player on the team that lost in the first round isn't an earth shattering pickup for 15M overall, in fact you ask most people and they say 8M for a 2nd backup is overpaid since that is already starter salary. I'm not sure what else is in the trade that makes you disgusted, but if we look at history people have bought low first rounders for 2-4M in cash. So you know the Lakers actually paid 11M more for a low first rounder than they would've otherwise have. The Rox oth could use that 8M they saved and buy two low first rounders if they want. More importantly Lin wouldn't get more value as the season started, rather he would be untradable as team don't enter a season with an 8M hole in capspace. What would happen is the Asik scenario where team would either have to include salaries to make it match or give lowball offers for Lin because he has an additional 8M cost, making trading him useless. It was a great trade to clear up salary for a very low cost, the Grizz took Kwame Brown's expiring as the best asset when they traded Pau Gasol and LA had to give a lottery pick to get rid of Baron Davis' 12M salary, compared to that Morey paid out a low first rounder for 8M salary and 15M total cost savings. It's a good trade.
Expiring contracts have lost value now that contract lengths have been shortened. Not saying they have no value, but I don't think Lins contract would be viewed as a positive even in an expiring sense because of the balloon payment.
Why are you guys still replying to this thread? Just leave it alone and let it die. These sort of r****ded threads are a black mark on this board.
At the very worst, Lin's contract was bad and his production is not particularly difficult to replace. I think everyone can at least accept that. I do wish we signed Jordan Farmar or someone equivalent on the cheap..
Why are you still trying to rile up Lin fans? And I ask again...enlighten us to what GM's are saying.
i was going to write something, but, wait ! what am I doing ? This is useless recycling and projection. why did i open this?......dear Daryl, please make some kind of trade or move so we can all go over THERE .......
