"Everyone gets the same universe," Murray said. "It's just a really big universe. It contains every possible variation but it is the universe and it's the same for everyone. None of this exists on the disc, none of it exists in the cloud. It's just generated on the fly. When you get there it's always generated the same way every time."

OK, this is the craziest and most ingenious thing ever. The size of a virtual universe has always been limited by data storage capacity. Even if you procedurally generate a world, it can't persist unless you find a way to store what you've generated. The devs have gotten around this by creating 1) the assets that will be mixed and matched to create all the elements of the universe, and 2) a set of instructions that will make the game generate the same content for each location every time. The two factors together make it work. I'm speculating here, but I'm guessing that the way #2 works is that the world generation begins at a central point and then, based on the instructions they've built in, the game generates the rest of the world in a cascade effect that can continue infinitely.

At this point I'm actually more excited for No Man's Sky than I am for Bloodborne, and that's really saying something, because I heart From Software.

 

For anyone looking into getting a Wii U, apparently Nintendo is selling 'refurbs' that might actually be new stock for $200. These are actually the black Deluxe systems. It's a great deal. Apparently the GAF forums are pretty pleased with the systems that have been coming in.

In other news, I picked up an XBOX One. So that's the XB1 and WiiU now, and I'll have a PS4 by the end of the year. Ironically enough it was the upcoming release of the Destiny bundle that helped to decide to get the XBOX first, as I want to wait for that white PS4. (and two of my multiplayer friends already picked up xbones). Grabbed used Kinect on ebay so that should be along shortly.

I forgot how much fun Dead Rising is.

 

It has been that price for a while. I nearly jumped on it several months ago before getting one of CL with a bunch of games for $200. Definitely been worth $200 as my kids love it.

 

NBA 2k14 on PS3 is trash compared to PS4. I quit playing the PS4 version and sold it because of the micro transaction greed, but it's soo much better than the PS3 version. PS3 version has a ton of bugs.

Inbound pass and it goes past my guy to the other team
I jump to get a rebound and the guy behind me goes through me and gets it
Wide open shot (90 midrange/90 close/ dead eye / catch and shoot / and two other perks for jump shots), A+/Excellent and I miss over half of them
I have the highlight reel perk and I almost never dunk, despite having 90 in jump/dunk/shoot on contact
My favorite, finished all star weekend and it skips every game afterwards and goes straight to the playoffs. Game acts like nothing weird happened.
Game is basically the same as 2k13 with more bugs. There's more stuff that happened, but I couldn't remember.
I would ask for a refund, but it was free for PS+.

 

Xbox One actually has new titles coming out this year unlike another system that needs to re-release an old @$$ game in order to have somewhat of a relevant game lineup..... Anyways, the sunset overdrive bundle is amazing at $399...... Same price as a PS4 except that Xbox actually has games to play...... The white console looks amazing and it comes with one of the most anticipated games of the year..... Anticipated game that is not a sequel or a re-release.... Something PS4 fanboys don't know about.... Check it out.... Looks amazing...




Will look exactly like the special edition "I made this" Xboxes.....



Console war is just starting..... Feel kind of sorry for PS4....

Time to get an Xbox1 and trade in my PS4.

 

Xbox One will soon have mkv support... You will be able to either play an mkv file from a usb drive or stream via your network...... Xbox One's media capabilities are way superior to a PS4....

I love how all of the Xbox people are basically sitting here arguing with themselves about how much better it is. Meanwhile the people with PS4s are in another thread talking about the games they are playing / waiting for. Failing hard, please continue.

 

You'd think Salvy gets paid by Microsoft to advertise their system on here, at least I hope he does.

The white Xbox One looks so elegant... It honestly is a beautiful looking console that fits in perfectly in a living room with nice equipment and modern furniture..... And I will be doing the same lol but I wont be selling the game.... MCC!!!! Add me on live bro.....

Xbox fan boys are the new Iphone fan boys....no need for the hating to try to convince people to side with you ha...let everyone play what they want to play..I prefer PS4s exclusive games...but Xbox has/will have some exclusives that are probably fun also. Out of all of the systems at the moment, it looks like the Wii U has the best line-up....tempting to pick one up. I think we can all agree that the XBox and PS4 game line-up to date is lacking.
