Went the game and defense looked 100X better. Still don't think Fitz is an NFL starter. He better pray Arian or AJ don't get hurt. Derek Newton....wtf
Playing against 3rd and 4th stringers had something to do with that. Not sure why that's "hard to understand", either.
just like we were talking about the texans losing 22 games in a 16 game season, I want to talk superbowl this week!! =) we can take the seahawks as long as no pick 6s are gift wrapped to them.
That ball he threw to Griffin sticks to Graham's hands for a td. It was a ball you don't throw if you don't have an arm, but he got into griffin nicely.
Watching the DVR'd game. I'm very impressed by Alfred Blue. He's the reason we released Andre Brown. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about him. Steal of a pick.
Yep. I don't think I've ever seen a Texans draft class collectively put in that good a game before. Color me impressed, although it is preseason. Also, I love what O'Brien did this game. He's definitely a leader of men. Putting Fitzpatrick back in for the two minute drill was unexpected and ballsy. From now on, I'm gonna call him Billy Brass Balls.
LOL. You could make that argument to justify any random fourth-string, fourth-quarter preseason superstar as a potential starter. (And by the way, without Andre Johnson and Arian Foster, there's not that much of a gap between Houston's playmakers in the 1st/2nd quarters and the 3rd/4th quarters.) Fact is, Bill has watched Keenum every day in the offseason and camp, and he's so not sold on Keenum (the same guy who was 0-8 a year ago and positively dreadful by the end of the season) that he chose to put a fourth-round rookie ahead of him for No. 2 reps. And I'm not sure what I'm supposed to "credit" him for. I want my quarterback to score points and avoid turnovers. Keenum hasn't done that well. Here's some raw data from last night for you: Ryan Fitzpatrick: 9-of-12, 97 yards, 1 TD/0 INT, 126.0 rating, scored two touchdowns in three drives Case Keenum: 6-of-12, 81 yards, 0 TD/1 INT, 37.2 rating, scored one field goal in three drives Yup, one of them "clearly looked more confident and more accurate on a larger percentage of throws", that's for sure. And since you mentioned percentage, the 75% completion percentage vs. 50% should be fairly telling, among other things.
Remember when people were saying Khalil Mack was potentially a better talent than Clowney? Glad the Texans didn't over think this one, glad I changed my vote to Clowney from Bridgewater. He's just...wow.
Yep, Keenum looked great last night, cant wait to see him play with starters and some actual weapons.
I didn't like how Keenum tried to fit the ball into double or triple coverage. I think Keenum has had his chance. Let Savage get some experience as he's clearly in BOB's future.
I've been re-watching the game this morning to make sure I didn't just dream it all... I know it's just pre-season, but it sure is satisfying to feel like the Texans actually out-smarted their opponent for a change. I'm not ready to get on the Fitz bandwagon, but that dude sure had his game-face on. Never saw him crack a smile once. This is going to be an interesting season.
