Oh I agree that someone might feel the need to draw their weapon, but that is where the line is for someone who should remain a police and someone who carries a gun in case they are losing a fight.
What are the guns for then? This is a kid who stole from a convenience store, ignored a policeman's request to NOT walk down the middle of the street and then attacked the officer and injured him. Should officers only shoot BACK when someone has shot at them? I suspect that the officer overstepped boundaries but just don't have a clear enough picture. It's a tragedy that this THUG died, but a thug he seems to be. Three acts of disrespect or criminality in such a short period of time.
I thought they already confirmed he was not involved in any type of store robbery. And officers should only shoot when there is a clear and present danger. This officer shot him as he ran and made sure it was enough shots to kill. We are always supposed to hold someone in a position of authority to a higher standard
Looters are a small % of opportunists.. Ferguson residents tried to secure the liquor store just in case the media didn't tell you that. Yes they were young black males.
SMH at ppl thinkin he deserves to be shot. Him stealing rillos wasn't even part of the reason why he was shot.. the cop didn't even know. Just a sad coincidence. Does he deserve to die? Is this our version of sharia extremism? We are no better than ISIS if we condone this
This investigation is starting to get really confusing. Now I'm hearing from Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson that at the time Officer Darren Wilson stopped Michael Brown and Dorian Johnson he wasn't even aware that they were robbery suspects. The chief is now saying that the officer stopped the pair because they were jaywalking (walking in the middle of the street). If that is true, then that supports what Johnson has said from the beginning. It also raises the question of why the police chief would even release irrelevant information about the robbery since he has now admitted that the officer in question was oblivious to it occurring.
Well it's still sort of relevant, the guy knew that he just robbed a store so it gives some indication as to why he might not cooperate with the police. Have they said for sure what happened in the stop that led up to the shooting? Did he attack the cop or just run?
While it means the officer's actions wouldnt be affected by the robbery, it doesn't mean that the victim's actions aren't. The victim knew about his own actions, and it may have impacted his decision making in regards to whatever confrontation occurred when stopped by a police officer. So it is certainly relevant to the case as a whole. But what's important is figuring exactly what kind of altercation occurred between cop and victim and why. It seems like a dashboard cam or anything like that would be very helpful here.
Depends on which account you believe.......and the truth is probably somewhere in between. According to Johnson the officer told them to get out of the street, tried to pull Brown into the car by the neck and became enraged when his door bounced back on him after he tried to open it. Then he threatened to shoot them. As far as I know according to the police....Brown or Johnson (I'm not sure who they say did it) reached for the officer's weapon in the car and there was a struggle. Then the struggle moved out of the car after a round was fired and the officer acted in self defense. So I'm still not 100% sure what happened. Some say Brown ran after he was shot initially.....was hit once more while running and turned around to surrender and was then shot 8 more times and died as a result....some say it was the result of a struggle for a weapon. A clear picture hasn't been painted yet to my knowledge.
I could see how that could have potentially influenced his actions......assuming he did attack the officer. There seems to be some confusion as to who actually initiated the struggle. Yes a dashboard camera would have been helpful.
Man if Brown really reached for the officer's weapon in the car, he is just plain stupid I don't feel bad at all. like what the hell do you expect from doing that. but then again everything is just speculations
That's another point of confusion.....the exact number of bullets fired and the number of times Brown was hit seem to vary. Johnson has said that it was at least 3. Other witnesses have said anywhere from 6-8 times. Brown's mother says she heard it was 10 bulllets. And as of right now. The police are saying more than a few. Right now it depends on who you believe.
