Uber charges them a pretty hefty fee. I'll have to look up the email for specifics. That's why I don't do late hours, I try to avoid that drama even though I know Uber will take care of me.

lol. i was in a uber car last week and the poor guy said hes picked up 6 picked up six tickets while driving for them while it was illegal. he got pulled from and had them around downtown. he said hes been trying send them to uber so he can get paid and they've been giving him the run around. poor guy said he just moved from boston felt bad for him.

also my buddy did uber in houston and id ride with him sometimes. srsly he'd pick up 3 people and somehow at the end those 3 people would give him 4.5 average. not sure how that even adds up mathematically. then he was driving in the "guarantee" hour where if you have your thing on and you accept above 75% you'll be guaranteed a set amount. well we were driving around and picking up people but somehow towards the last 10'ish or so minutes he didnt get any fares. then he gets an email from uber saying he didnt hit his 75% minimum even though he didnt get any fares. I was driving with him and the thing was on and everything but just didnt beep.

ubers whole insurance thing about while you're waiting for a fare is pretty iffy also. it states that your primary insurance is the first option and it has to COMPLETELY deny the case. in that case THEN theres will apply for 50kcap per person. Sounds like a really long hectic process which while you'll have lawsuits filed im sure. theres some sketchy practices by uber and I use to love driving with it esp for work. I think im going to switch to lyft .

idk I know definitely city officials use to be at IAH domestic terminals and would give citations left and right to uber drivers.

AGAIN i have nothing against uber I was just stating some facts. As a user I would definitely use uber/lyft before Id get in a cab but working for them is very murky imo.

Im pretty sure surge pricing is going to be gone soon. Other cities in the NE has already made uber throw surge pricing out of the window. Its technically price gouging which is illegal.

Those people were probably kinda wondering why two dudes were picking them up. Why did your friend go out to work if he wasn't ready to accept the fairs? That makes the system unreliable. It makes sense to punish those that are not accepting fairs...that's part of the job. If you're not ready to pick some one up, all you have to do is tap go offline.

How does someone manage to get six tickets? Uber doesn't operate in cities where it's illegal, so that doesn't make sense.

It seems like those drivers are just setting themselves up for failure.

Here is a copy of the insurance update they sent me July 22

    Hi Felix,

Uber is committed to connecting riders and drivers to one of the safest rides on the road. We have always carried protection that exceeds rideshare, limo and taxi standards while rideshare drivers are on Uber trips. We’re excited to announce a few updates to provide you with more peace of mind and improve your claims experience (in the unfortunate event of an accident). The policy updates for all ridesharing drivers in Dallas-Fort Worth include:

Coverage while on an Uber trip is now expressly primary - Updated
Claims process is streamlined - Updated
Coverages and limits remain the same

HOW HAS THE COVERAGE BEEN UPDATED?

From the moment you accept a trip to its conclusion, the coverage provided to rideshare partners is primary to your personal auto policy. (However it will not take precedence over any commercial auto insurance you may have for the vehicle).
If you have comprehensive and collision coverage for your vehicle on your personal auto policy, you are covered for comprehensive and collision by simply providing evidence that this coverage was in place at the time of the accident. Our insurer will no longer require you to make a claim on your personal auto insurance in order to get this coverage. This helps you get back on the road faster.

DO I STILL NEED TO CARRY MY OWN PERSONAL INSURANCE?

Yes. Valid personal auto insurance is required by state law to be on the road and we require it too.
If you want coverage for damage to your vehicle, consider purchasing collision and comprehensive coverage to protect you in the event of an incident; our contingent coverage only applies if you have purchased this on your personal policy.
If there’s an incident that your personal insurance refuses to cover while you are not on a trip, our contingent coverage for when you are logged on and available in the Uber Driver App will provide drivers with liability protection for bodily injury up to $50,000/individual/accident with a total of $100,000/accident and liability protection for property damage up to $25,000.

WHAT DO I DO IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT?

As soon as it is safe to do so, contact your local Uber office.
Complete the incident report form that we provide.
You will be provided with a claim number and an adjuster will contact you on behalf of our insurer to resolve the claim.
If an accident occurs while on a trip, we will not require you to contact your personal auto insurer to make a claim. However we recommend that you still report the accident if your personal insurer requires that.

REMIND ME, WHAT COVERAGES ARE AVAILABLE WHILE ON A TRIP?

$1MM of third party liability insurance covering property damage and bodily injury to others
$1MM of uninsured / underinsured motorist bodily injury coverage
$50,000 of contingent comprehensive and collision with a $1,000 deductible for damage to your vehicle (you must carry collision insurance on your personal auto policy to get this coverage)

    HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

Read our blog post that describes each piece of our coverage in more detail or feel free to reach out to us directly via email.

    Uber on,

What? How is it mathematically possible to get a 4.5 from three fares? Im not saying he deserved or didnt deserve but its IMPOSSIBLE from a math point of view. He messaged rebecca the uber houston rep and she cold shouldered him. Thought it was very messed up.

And what are you talking about Uber doesn't operate in cities its illegal? You do know it was illegal in Houston this entire time since this month RIGHT?

Okay, now I know why he received tickets. Uber drivers are instructed to stay away from airports unless they have commercial insurance and are bonded.

again back to the generic response uber gave you, why not cut all the bull**** and loopholes and just flat out say something definitely. This whole crap of, "hey you're covered right after your insurance completely denies you." And hey remember your insurance companies it he primary one but hey dont worry we have your back.

Its common sense that if you are waiting for a fare and you hit someone/something when you're 10feet away from picking up the fare. DO you honestly think any personal insurance company will cover that knowing you're picking up passengers? Obv not so why not cut the bull**** rope and make a definite statement?

I'm not sure about his rating. I maintain a 4.9, and do it with minimal effort.

I honestly didn't realize it was illegal in Houston. I just read where Uber "defied" city council. But it also says that Uber is backing up the drivers 100%. I think in that individual drivers case...Uber might not pay because he was at an airport.

    This is in their FAQ

Can uberX Partners get requests at the airport?
DFW and Love Field don't allow drivers without commercial insurance and special permits to pick up riders at the airport. Because of this uberX partners will not receive requests from the airports. However, it is still ok for uberX partners to drop off at the airports. If you would like to learn more about these regulations you would need to contact DFW and/or Love Field directly.

I'm not sure what the policy is in Houston, but I would imagine it's the same.

LOL...okay so what about the lady in Utah who was promised by Uber the same thing? She ended up with two collections letters threatening to take her things and shes tried contacting Uber multiple times. You do know as a 1099 driver you have no LEGAL action against uber correct? Did you read your terms when you first signed up? They have the right to terminate you at any point for whatever reason. They have also mad

The client made a mess or damaged my car. What can I do?
We can help! If necessary, Uber can charge riders up to $200 on your behalf to cover the cost of damage or time lost to cleaning up messes. To make sure we can pay you, please do the following immediately after the issue occurs:

Take pictures of the mess or damage
    Record the trip number
Clean up thoroughly before your next trip
Within 24 hours, send an email to partnersdallas@uber.com with the photos and additional details
It's very important that you send us the information quickly. The longer you wait to send us details, the harder it is for us to charge the client.

You do know simply dropping off a passenger at the airport and a city official seeing them in your car is cause for a citation correct?

In Texas, any employer can fire you for whatever reason they want. It's a right to work state so that doesn't really matter. I just follow the rules, laws, guidelines and don't have to worry about tickets, ratings and being fired or being sued.

As far as the lady in Utah, I have no idea.
