The full schedule or just the national TV games? Usually it's the national TV schedule first..I hope this year they finally give some exposure to teams who deserve it and are entertaining but I'm afraid with Kobe back and Bosh, Wade & Melo staying there will be 10-20 for the Lakers, Heat and Knicks.
Do we really need a "schedule release special"? That is valuable time that can be devoted to Johnny Manziel.

LeBron, Cavs to Miami on Dec. 25 [rQUOTEr]The NBA will announce Wednesday that LeBron James will play his first game in Miami since returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Christmas Day, according to sources briefed on the league's new schedule. The Los Angeles Times reported earlier this week that the L.A. Clippers and Golden State Warriors also will square off in one of the league's Christmas Day games in a renewal of the growing rivalry between the Pacific Division clubs. Due to some last-minute shuffling, sources said, exactly when and where James will launch his second stint as a Cavalier is still being finalized. But sources insist that it will not be in San Antonio after considerable speculation in recent weeks that Cleveland would open the new season against the NBA's reigning champions. Ring Night for the Spurs, sources said, is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 28 at home against the Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio's opponent for seven games in the first round of last spring's playoffs.[/rQUOTEr]
I understand some dates require certain teams to play, but I rather have a schedule be made by a computer and totally random. TNT, ESPN & ABC can work their way around the schedule, not the schedule around their airing time! In a perfect world I gues...let's hope for some more Bulls, Wizards, Hornets & Raptors national games!
The NBA (and all major sports) business revolves around these TV contracts, so there is no way that completely random schedule generation will ever happen. The TV networks know when the best time to air games is to get ratings and the league has to carefully select matchups to maximize these ratings.

It will be a rematch of the 2014 Western Conference Finals, as the Thunder travels to San Antonio to take on the defending NBA champion Spurs in a game scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Central on the biggest holiday of the NBA calendar. The entire 2014-15 NBA schedule will be unveiled at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Thunder will open the season at Portland on Oct. 29, a Northwest Division matchup that offered the makings of a rivalry last season when Kevin Durant admitted to reporters that the two teams don’t like each other. The Trail Blazers went 54-28 last season and finished second in the division, five games behind the Thunder. Oklahoma City's home opener will be Nov. 1 against Denver, another Northwest Divisional opponent. The Thunder went 3-1 against the Nuggets last season. Christmas has been good to the Thunder. Oklahoma City is 3-1 when playing on Christmas Day. The schedule is subject to change until the NBA officially releases all the dates Wednesday evening.[/rQUOTEr]
