Because of the past few years, I honestly think most Astros fans forget that not all players reach their potential by the age of 24-25

I don't disagree with you. He will become or surpass Adam Dunn by next year. ;)

I remember when we got Carter, there was a preseason prediction article that listed him as a potential MVP candidate in the near future. Not saying he's there, yet. But if this isn't a streak and he's really figured things out, he's going to put up some ridiculous numbers next season.

I'm curious what the change is in him. Did he get LASIK or something or change his swing?

Working and working with Mallee. I think they have worked on shortening his swing.

Agreed. He has shortened his swing and is staying closed longer. He is able to make better adjustments to pitches in the zone. If this streak continues for another month I suspect he won't get many pitches in the zone--less HRs, more walks.

Yup Carter and Singleton both are working long hours with Mallee.

Mallee should get a huge raise then, like double. Crane, make it so.

How much credit does Bo Porter get for persistently referring to Carter's potential? He did the same with Harrell last season.

Is Porter just a mouthpiece for Luhnow, did he actually see something with Carter that fans were not seeing, or does he just back up every struggling player?

Marisnick has also said a couple of times that he is working every day with Mallee, making small adjustments to his swing. They seem to be working.

He bottomed out on July 1: .181/.263/.399/.662. Since then, he has added:
    - 49 points to his BA
    - 40 points to his OB%
    - 122 points to his slugging %
    - 162 points to his OPS

What's incredible... his overall numbers are still slightly scary looking (well, his BA and OB%; his slugging is well above average) to someone who doesn't realize the tear he's been on (.230/.303/.521/.824).

The sample size is still small (33 games) but it's encouraging. If he can slug .500+ and get on base... 32.5-33% of the time... That's a legitimate franchise cornerstone.

amazing. he continues to impress. imagine, if someone accidentally rubbed some cream and the clear on him, he'd be superbeasting rather than beasting.

the way the franchise works though i'm expecting carter to Rangers for prospects in 3010 a.d.

Outside of free agents that were signed with an intent to potentially flip, has the Lunhow regime actually traded away any of the players they acquired? Cosart seems like the main young guy they've traded, and he was someone that this regime didn't select. Carter is a guy that Lunhow brought over. I wonder if the dynamics of who they trade and who they build around is partially dependent on that since they are presumably "believers" in the guys they acquired.
