15 percent of population, commit 50 percent of violent crimes

Another alarming stat, 70 percent children live in signal parent home.

Shouldn't this be talked about more. Why aren't there any discussions about this in the media? Why ignore such obvious problem in the black community.

We're doing a disservice to the African American by ignoring this problem, I'm sure a lot of them want to live in peace and not have to worry about gang violence in their community but we must first address this problem.

We should talk about it more.

Too many go to prison for nonviolent drug offenses

Because people will a) call you a racist if you point this out, b) try to minimize or excuse it by blaming economics (black people don't commit more crimes, poor people do), institutional racism (black people get longer sentences, convicted at a higher rate, have less opportunity for legitimate income), etc., or c) try to change the subject and point out that some other ethnic group is overrepresented in some other area (often where the numbers are statistically insignificant, like most serial killers are white).

    Family structure, no father figure.

At the end of the day discipline comes form home, a lot of them come from broken homes.

Because the're "the blacks". Conservatives enjoy the double talk of pointing out race in crime statistics or education statistics but ignoring race when it comes to solutions to those problems. Race is always tied to the problem but strangely not the solution. How does that work? Conservatives are all about slogans to solve problems and that's why they solve none.

This is basically a Stormfront like thread. Just replace black with n-bomb and viola.

    Very clever OP.

that's a huge part of it. Also the desperation of their financial situation with limited options or knowledge of how to take advantage of those options.

This, the drug war, along with its selective enforcement (heavy in communities of color, less so in white communities), has caused a LOT of violence, given power and money to gangs and other criminal organizations, and seen to it that 1/3 of black men are in some way under the supervision of the criminal justice system.

Very true, the actual problem is in poor communities, no matter the prevalent race. Unfortunately, many predominantly black communities fall in this category.

Also, government "helping" often doesn't help at all.
