Really? Trash? I'd grant "flawed" maybe, but seriously. He was one of most efficient scorers in the NBA at the time we traded for him and so adept at getting to the line (second in FT attempts to Kevin Durant) that the NBA changed the rules to disallow one of his moves. And he was one of the leading scorers on a >0.500 win team each of the years he was with us. Oh, and he knew the coach's offense by heart. Yeah, total trash.
Not being familiar with Kostas, I wonder after reading his profiles if he may end up providing Ryan Bowen-like contributions for us this year. Anyone else get that sense? Or care to argue for/against? Trying not to be overly optimistic about these roster additions.
Since Kostas Papanikolaou is familiar with the general concept of how to shoot a basketball, I'd say that his (offensive) contributions will exceed those of Ryan Bowen.
This. So many posters crapping on the Rockets. Next thing you will hear is that Harden and Howard are mere role players. Fan frustation has turned into idiocy. The pre-season couldn't come sooner. Smh...
Also, everyone forgets a bonus with Papanikolaou's signing. That Kill_Bill_Pana, or whatever's its name, troll will return. I'm greek btw, and I really hate that guy. Did you ever manage to get rid of him? I remember him posting here even after Spanoulis' departure.
Yeah, even if he wanted to do that, the Greek NT's coach wouldn't like it very much, being in the middle of World Cup preparation and all.
This guy is not an "effort only" player like Bowen. We all want to have realistic expectations but surely we can go above Ryan Bowen. Scott Padgett maybe?
I'm pretty excited about this signing. Contract isn't a long term burden, and there's not a lot of talent out there to spend the MLE on anyway right now. Decent 3 point shooter (if he hits his ceiling of 40%, that would be spectacular), seems like a good defender but might be slow at the wing, good energy, average to below average athlete. I think he will be a solid addition to the bench. Hard to translate his Euroleague stats over to NBA production.
No turnovers No bad shots Catch and shoot Off-ball cutter Let's hope he pushes our starters for minutes, and gives us a good 15-20 minutes every night.
Hell no.... C'mon, Morey didn't pay this guy almost 5 mill to be Scott Padgett. If you watch clips of Papa playing, it's clear he's got more athleticism than Bowen or Padgett. Watch the move @4:30 http://youtu.be/Pd-U-FeiG9w?t=4m25s <object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/Pd-U-FeiG9w?hl=en_US&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/Pd-U-FeiG9w?hl=en_US&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> Not only is he more skilled than either of those two, but he's got more heart and fire, as well.
One underrated aspect of the offseason is that we've been focused on reducing those turnovers. We can handle 3 turnovers apiece from Harden and Howard, but guys like Casspi/Lin turned it over way too much for what they were doing.
