what he has done for the past few years, defend, shoot and occasionally bring the ball up court and run sets.

And do you think this may be the reason Harden was completely wore out in the playoffs?

What playoff experience did Troy Daniels have to hit a game winning three? What playoff experienced players did we have off the bench? Asik was starting at the 4 and we basically switched Parsons for Ariza. Not having Lin to choke it up at the end is actually more a benefit then it is a loss. With having Howard, Harden and a offense that is uptempo the team will score different players outside those two will score enough the concern is making the key stops to close out games in the playoffs. That's what will make the team a better playoff team. Guys need roles moreso defensive roles and stick to them.

Two names Kobe Bryant (triangle offense) and some dude named Lebron James lol. This current rockets team is no old Lakers or big 3 Miami Heat.

I don't buy that he was wore out.

I think he missed a bunch of shots he usually hits and then got frustrated and began to force things that weren't there.

A lot of things played into that series loss and I think fatigue was very low on that list.

LMFBO. Patrick Beverly will never ever ever see a ring as a 'starting' PG unless the rockets miraculously acquire Lebron James.

I hope you are correct. However, considering Ariza's past foot problems, I'll be surprised if he completes another whole season without his dogs dealing his playing time a crippling de-feet.

Also, Ariza is not a vocal leader like Chandler Parsons. If there is a fire in his belly, he must be stoking it with Zantac, Rolaids and Tums.

Aside from the millions Morey saved Alexander, this appears to be another shabby move by our storied GM. I hope that I come to regret this conclusion, but, at this point, I doubt that I will.

Then just play a 3&D combo guard next to Harden in the back court. Let Harden cover the other team's lesser player while (3&D combo) fills in the holes. (3&D combo) plays off of Harden or Harden can play off of (3&D combo). What ever is working that night.

We need a role player that just plays (a back court garbage man that does what Harden won't / can't) and let Harden be our SUPERSTAR. (we need Robin for our Batman):)

Is Johnson(r) this kind of player? (he filled up a stat sheet in the Summer League)

Hopefully less than what Chalmers did to the Heat this year

Seriously, Bev is fine. He certainly isn't the best around, but he's more than good enough for a contender. He plays solid D, hopefully will hit the 3 closer to 38% or so, and doesn't make mistakes.

The assertion that a premier PG is necessary to be successful is overblown. See: Derek Fisher, Mario Chalmers/Norris Cole, BJ Armstrong/John Paxson, Avery Johnson, Kenny Smith etc... The counter argument is each of those teams was anchored by one of the greatest of all time.

You could flip it and point to: Rajon Rondo, Tony Parker, Chauncey Billups, etc...

But for every championship team with an elite PG, you can name one without an elite PG. Beverley won't hurt you on offense, might help if he can shoot the 3 at a higher clip, and will help you tremendously on defense. I think that's just fine for a starter on a contender.

But obviously getting Dragic/Bledsoe/Rondo or whoever else is making the rumor mill rounds would be an upgrade and increase our chances of advancing in the postseason.

I like Bev/Ariza shoring up Harden's defensive deficiencies.

No doubt in my mind that this year's starting lineup (as of this minute) is better than the one that closed out last season. Ariza is a better fit than Parsons was and it will show when this team no longer gives up 35 point quarters or lets Corey Brewer drop 51 points on them while still scoring just as many points with the same or better efficiency.

First of all you cant have a star at every position. You sound like you have already made up your mind regarding Beverly, are you discounting any chance that he can improve? You sound like you have a personal stake in Beverly's failure.

I guess Jason Kidd at age 50 or whatever was an elite PG? or Jason Terry and Tyson Chandler were elite "Triangle"? No, they had Dirk....

And yes they had a coach but, we are a way better team than they were even with Beverly starting, we just need a good assistant coach and our team can make up the difference.

I for one think we lucked the **** out. If we had gotten Bosh, we would have kept Parsons and had no interest in Ariza. It would be awesome to have Bosh and Ariza, butfor the money we saved, I am way more excited about Ariza than Parsons.. We NEEDED defense.

looking at that picture of the writer, Tyler Condit, definitely gives his article less credibility.

I'm absolutely not discounting he can improve at 26 years of age, but he's not an attack the basket and dish or setup type of a "PG" yet and I don't know if he'll ever be one. I love how Beverly plays the game and his defensive presence. But I feel that in order for the rockets to advance they will need to find someone that can force Tony Parker, Russel Westbrook, Chris Paul, Damien Lillard and Stephen Curry to play just a little bit of defense. Harden can't keep up this pace as the only playmaker and expect him to be halfway fresh come playoff time.

FYI my personal stake is to see the rockets raising banners LOL. I know Beverly is a big fan favorite but I don't think he makes the other players around him much better like a true PG would. Just my two cents for whatever its worth.
