Didn't want to start a new thread, but my galaxy note 2 has been lagging big time for the last few weeks. After some troubleshooting, I decided to uninstall the facebook app, and the lag is gone. Not only that, my battery life has almost doubled. The battery lasts almost 2 days now with normal use. Facebook must be one of the worst android apps ever written.

I got the LG G3 today. For a dollar more, AT&T threw in a 7 inch LG tablet.

Ive had the S3 for the last two years, so I wanted to stay away from the S5 bc I wanted a new flavor.

Ive only had it for a day...I got about 5 hours of on screen time. I usually need about 2-3 hours on typical days, so although the battery isn't as good as the S5, its more than I would need.

Design and Display are the nuts though.

The generally let you upgrade if you are within 3 months to the end of your contract.

Well, pretty much all of the new smartphones will give you what you're asking for. Which one to get us purely up to you, in my opinion. Just go to Best buy or an AT&T store and play with the floor models. Determine which is the right size for you first.

There will probably rumors of it in a month or so if it is supposed to come out before the year's end.

A lot of the high end ones seemed quite similar, but I got the S5. Having a bit of buyer's remorse as I think the s5 active would have suited me better !!

I'm pretty sure you can return it within a certain amount of days and get the S5 Active instead.

Sunday was my first full day with the LG G3. The knock on the phone is the battery life. It is true that the battery doesnt hold up as well as the S5 or M8. Having said that, I overused the phone more than I normally do, and I had more than enough room to spare. I discharged the phone at about ~7:45 AM. By 11:15 PM, I had 24% life still remaining. The phone had been in use for almost 15 hours and 30 minutes...with an "on screen" time of 3.5 hours. Based on the way I had used the phone, it was still giving me 3 hours of work time left on the battery...meaning, it would be well after 2 AM before the phone would crap out.

I know the S5 gets more "on screen" time...I think it just comes down to: Do you really need 6+ hours of "on screen" time. Unless you spend 4+ hours of your work time on the phone, it seems a little unnecessary. At the end of the day, it doesnt matter if you have 35% battery remaining or 9%...you're still going to have to charge it over night. Amirite?

The design, screen, functionality, UI, etc... of the phone are all top notch, so I'd most definitely recommend the phone to anyone.

Rule #1: When in doubt, go with the better battery life.

And when there is no doubt?

Discharged the phone 15 hours ago, used it throughout the day, and I'm sitting at 57% battery remaining.

Battery life at this level of technology is no longer a concern.

Screen on time is the ultimate measurable.

Regardless, glad you like your purchase.

I agree. Sitting at 53% after 21 hours. 2.5 hours screen on time. Multiple phone calls and a Skype video call made.

Well, that's why I originally mentioned that if you need 6+ hours of screen on time in a given day, then the S5 has that capacity. You really only need that much screen on time if your profession requires you to be on the phone throughout the day. Otherwise, that much screen on time is unnecessary.

I am planning to get the S5 in the next few days. Currently, I have Verizon, but I plan to switch to Tmobile since they have the $100 for 4 line plan.

Do ya recommend that? Do I lose a lot of speed with Tmobile?

Ultimately it comes down to what works for you. Some people might only need 2hrs of screen time a day. To me, battery life is #1 priority in a phone. I want to at least be able to use my phone throuough the day, normal usage and not have to worry about it dying. And I'm not talking about having to turn off all my data with screen brightness to the lowest and all that other battery saving crap. That should not be necessary.

I have a Nexus 5 and it has a horrible battery life. I always have to go home after work to recharge my phone first before I go do anything else. So I will always go with the better battery life if specs are similar.

Its a nice luxury to have. Sure, we may not need 5hrs+ screen time, but we don't need cars that go over 120MPH either but we still want them

the lastest showed that T-mobile had the faster LTE. Verizon has the better coverage. T-mobile has the faster 3G to fall back on. Another report also showed that T-mobile versions of their phones had better battery life but I'm not sure how much I believe that one.
