Watched it today and liked it. Will prob watch a sequel if they have one. Not a Megan fox fan.. And I agree the turtles should have had a different look but the plot made sense and it's easy to follow, entertaining. I agree with the person who said kids would love it. I lol'd a few times (loudly).

I enjoyed it. It does feel like a Michael Bay movie but I think it stayed pretty consistent with what the original cartoons had, action and humor. If you like ninja turtles I don't see why you wouldn't like this, unless Megan Fox just really really bugs you.

This movie wasn't RT 20% bad. In fact, I think RT really craps on this movie more than it needs to. However, there WAS a fart joke in the first act of the movie, so there's that. lol

The action was good, but the plot is horrible though. I didn't care about any of the characters except Arnett's character, and maybe Mikey. There was no character development for any of the turtles - the movie expects the audience to "know" that, coming into the movie, Leo is serious, Raph is angry, Donnie is smart and Mikey is a manchild. In fact, there was more character development for Will Arnett's character than any of the turtles + Splinter.

What happened to NYPD's police force? If the foot clan (I guess the equivalent of a gang?) problem was so serious, why haven't the police done anything about it? In fact, the police show up for the film's final 15 minutes or so. Pretty sad.

The movie has way too many plot holes. Go see it if you don't want to think (much like Age of Extinction), and just want to be entertained by action on action. Also, Shredder was TOTALLY a Transformer lol.

Lots of questions in my spoiler:

Did Shredder die at the end? The film certainly didn't leave anything open for a potential sequel. Again, the character development was so bad that during Raph's "emotional" speech when they were free-falling through the air, I honestly couldn't care less of any of the Turtles died.

So, tons of people surrounded Shredder when he fell to the ground. When the turtles managed to hit the ground, I find it hard to believe that people didn't surround them to see wtf they were. I mean, it happens for one party, but not the other? Totally realistic. Also, why were there no foot clan personnel helping / protecting Shredder atop the tower? Karai is supposed to be something of a "right hand man" for Shredder, yet her role was minimal.

Why was Arnett's character gifted a new car? The explanation for totaling his news van would have been breaking into Sacks' private property...and that's it. That warrants a new car? Arnett should have been fired. Also, why is Megan Fox going around on a bike? The cameraman has a vehicle, but the news reported doesn't? Makes no sense.

Speaking of Sacks, was he just left there, knocked out on his floor? Did the cops get him? No one has any proof that Sacks was going to screw people like that, so he gets away with everything?

Overall, 8/10 for the action, 1/10 for the plot, 0/10 for character development, and 3/10 overall for the movie.

All the TMNT movies have bad reviews.

If you show up 20 minutes late to this movie and tune out all the Megan Fox scenes then this movie is AWESOME. You forget how crazy the turtles look once they start talking. They are so charismatic and unique. Was super awesome. I hope someone spends the time to edit out all of Megan Fox. The plot would be a lot more interesting since you wouldn't know EXACTLY what is going on. Just think about how it would have been different.

Hopefully Shredders shows up for the sequels (at least two more. Oh god.)

It's mindless fun. If you can ignore all the plot holes, it'll be alright. Just don't think about the movie after the end credits, and you'll be ok.

Critics crap on this movie because they have to be somewhat logical in going about their reviewing. But the movie entertains, for sure.

I'm pretty sure this is the movie that showcases Fox's acting talents the most. Which is sad, because she was pretty wooden throughout. Many comedic moments resorted to Fox getting hit on by Mikey and Arnett, which was pretty funny the first time, but it got old quick.

And the only way Fox even discovered (Leo?) was by pure dumb luck. No investigative skill whatsoever.

They actually had a turtles marathon on today, and man those 90's films don't hold up well at all, though I'll give 'em that they have a slight charm still. I actually enjoyed TMNT but looking back it does take itself way too seriously. So I guess it's not out of the realm that this new version could be the best of the bunch. How sad.

Without seeing the new one I guess it'd be I/II > TMNT > III

I didn't enjoy it. It was just too stupid for me. I'm a HUGE Turtles fan. Watched every episode of the 2k3 series (Including the "lost episodes") and the 2012 show. Seen all the movies including the 2007 flick and "Turtles Forever". Read the comics (including the Archie comics versions). Of course watched all of the first series from the 80s. This movie was worse than all except, of course, for 1997's "The Next Mutation" (Man, f-ck that show) and the abomination that was Ninja Turtles III.

I mean, the action was good, but the characterization was missing, as was any semblance of a logical plot. The four-humors elements normally prevalent in the turtles' interactions (probably my favorite thing about TMNT) was lacking, as well as any attempt to show why Leo is qualified as a leader or why Raph would recognize him as such by the end. And the origin explanation for why Splinter became so proficient in ninjutsu and taught his sons... 'sigh' that was just lazy. Also, I wasn't a fan of April O'Neal as a reporter again vs the scientist/Kunoichi-in-training she has been in most incarnations (admittedly, that's just my own preference).

The kids in the audience really seemed to like it so I guess that's all that really matters. I remember really enjoying "Secret of the Ooze" as a kid and that movie doesn't stand up at all now, so I realize I'm seeing things in a completely different light than they toy-purchasing target demo. But damn, I was really hoping this would be better.

I probably should have seen Guardians of the Galaxy for a 3rd time instead.

    For me it would be:

    1. Turtles Forever (2009)
    2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
    3. TMNT (2007) (Some hate this one, but I LOVE Karai as a character so I'm biased. Plus it had elements I enjoyed from the comics such as no Shredder, April as a kunoichi without the dumb reporter shtick. and Leo being sent on a lone training journey mandated by Splinter)
    4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze (1991)
    5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
    6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III (1993)

I thought the movie was pretty stupid. I wouldn't recommend it.

Everything was predictable, the turtles could've looked and sounded better, and I felt like they were trying too hard to make the movie funny.

Unless you have little kids to take, save your money.

This was better than I thought it would be considering I went in with no expectations of it being good at all but I enjoyed it. Still nowhere near the original but they did have some nice throwback moments from the first movie.

Shredder lived. His hands were moving and ooze was on his hand. My guess is next time we will get Super Shredder.

I thought it was ok, being a huge fan growing up, loving the '90 original, sequel, and '07 CGI movie, but hated Turtles in Time.

A few things that bugged me, pretty sure I'm reaching at some of these things

Raphael's mask was not the bright red I'm used to, could've even passed as purple, but we know Donatello was wearing the taped up glasses

Donatello barely spoke throughout the movie compared to the other 3, which was sort of a bummer since he was my favorite growing up

I was ok with April's back story, hell of a lot better than the rumored "aliens" origin, which was hilarious that they made fun of it with April/Vern

Mikey's "my shell is getting tighter" remark had me rolling

    the elevator scene was great

The Verge's review said it best, don't think and you will enjoy it

    Saw it over the weekend.

    1) It was a movie made for young kids so I tried to keep that in mind
    2) It should have been named "April O'Neil: Rise of a Heroine featuring The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"
    3) Shredder was really, really dumb.
    4) Michael Bay's desire to turn characters into hip "street" characters is annoying. I mean good grief.
    5) Holy logical inconsistencies Batman!
    6) Car flips!
    7) Explosions!
    8) Babe!
    9) Product Placement!
    10) Unprepared character comes into their own as the hero!
    11) Famous comedian makes unfunny appearance!

    Yep, Michael Bay 101.

Plot transitions were way too fast. CG looked terrible at times, especially during movement. Some of the slow panning shots of the turtles looked great. I hate how the turtles look though. Add the nostrils, fine. But a nose bridge and lips? It's freaking mutated turtles that know ninjutsu. Don't try to make it real.

Funny moments at times. Mikey was great. This felt like transformers 3 already. At least the first two transformers were halfway decent as far as aura.

I actually think the first two 90s movies hold up pretty well. I really do much prefer the Jim Henson suits over poorly done CGI. Now if the CGI was as good as the planet of the apes series, that would be cool.

Overall, I'll give the new movie a 3/10 assuming you go in with no expectations and put away your thinking cap. If you don't, then this movie sucks.

I saw about 2/3rds of the movie until Cinemark's power went out and I'm assuming the internet went out so they couldn't get any movies back on in the whole theater.
Felt really bad for the kids, especially the one next to me, it was his bday and all he wanted to do is see TMNT.

Up to the point where Shredder attacks the lair, it was okay.
Story was different, but not bad.
Not a fan of the physical character designs, but going in with an open mind and enjoying it for what it is, I thought it was fine. You have to know that these movies are made for kids now, thats where the money is so I didn't think it was that bad. The toys should sell like hotcakes now...
