What a waste of time watching this ******* team. I know it's just preseason, but I literally got nothing out of watching that game aside from confirming what a beast Clowney is. This was the chance for some of the non-stars to show what they had. Whatever. They'll end up winning 4 or 5 games anyway.
Chill out. This was only a preseason game. The Texans are holding back with their playbook and playing with a vanilla offense and defense. The Texans Defensive line was dominating. Rush defense was great. The starting Offensive line of the Texans looked great too. The Texans secondary struggled but they playing new coverage schemes. JJo did not play a snap and Kareem looked good. The penalties from the Texans were being called from second, third, and fourth teamers. QB play will improve as training camp moves along.
I agree, it's not time to go completely nuts about things but it was a serious disappointment seeing pretty much all of the team play poorly. Hopefully more of the starters will be available the next game so that we can find out more about where we stand. That said, I'm almost through with the Fitz experiment, he needs to rebound in a big way going forward or he needs to be holding a clipboard.
Yea it was just a preseason game, but vanilla scheme is a terrible excuse. Do you really think if they let the playbook open they are in a better spot? Only team with 0 points and 0 redzone attempts in the entire league.
yeah, 11,000 random, probaly a lot of meaningless and silly thoughts. Personally, I wouldn't care if we had mods or not. I've never been so bothered by somebody's comment that I was offended and wanted them gone. If I see something I don't like I would just ignore or not click the thread. If needs be, I'll say something and move along. It just text, not that big a deal. If It was up to me, I wouldn't ban anyone over what they wrote.
It was really embarrassing for the team. I didn't think it would be that bad. To me it seemed like more of a wake up call for the coaching staff. They should now know they are dealing with a lot of players that are good at practice but are not so great when the game is live. Also they gotta look at things like the secondary and say okay this guy is what he is and if he is steady doing it wrong in practice he will suck during the game ala Brandon Harris. Holding someone accountable is one thing but getting better takes actual changes and changing. Some guys just simply should be on the Nfl field on this team seriously. I feel outside of Cushing and Tuggle... I'll show Max Bullogh (spelled his name wrong but he's trying out I know) some love because I like what I see from him... every other inside linebacker is complete trash.
Arizona was running a vanilla scheme as well... It's not like Bruce Arians was pulling out every trick he had and it's not like Arizona had all 22 of their starters playing either. Hard not to react when watching a car wreck happen right in front of your eyes but amongst all of the calamity there were a couple of bright spots. I think Powe did a good job at the point of attack. Good to finally see a big man in the middle of the defense that can hold his own. He was the defensive player that impressed me the most last night (other than J.J. of course). He may end up being a good find for the team.
I know it's preseason and it doesn't count, but the constant decision to take the ball out of the end zone on special teams only to get to the 10 or 15 yard line was especially disappointing. I'm a firm believer that you should practice how you play and it did nothing but put the offense in a whole almost every time we had the ball. In fact, I think Savage had just about the best starting field position of the day on the one kickoff that went completely out of the endzone.
Adams and Martin are on the bubble and trying to prove what they can do...so that probably encouraged some chance taking that wouldn't happen in the regular season.
I certainly hope you're right, because it happened WAY too often last year. Personally I'd rather they show that they are smart enough to kneel it when they catch it 8 yards deep in the end zone.

I don't care about the gameplan! The fact is, they didn't execute what ever the hell the gameplan was. BOB can sugarcoat all he wants, but a turd is still a turd no matter how you look at it. No excuses for the crap that was out there and it falls on terrible coaching and management. Coaching from a standpoint of discipline and execution...management from a standpoint of not providing the coaching staff with adequate talent at all positions. Too many holes to fill and the lack of talent from th2 2013 draft class is huge. There is no depth at ANY position on this team. The 2nd team of players on this team would be practice squad players on any other team. This is truly going to be a damn long season.....
It was the 1st preseason game under a new coaching staff with a completely new system. I would have been shocked if they looked good.
How many teams have new coaching staffs each year, and how many look *that* bad in their first preseason game? This year, you had 7 new head coaches: CLE - lost 13-12 DET - won 13-12 MIN - won 10-6 TB - lost 16-10 TEN - won 20-16 WAS - won 23-6 HOU - lost 32-0 Which of these is unlike the others? Granted, scores themselves don't mean anything especially with so many scrubs playing for so much of the games. But one of these is an outlier, even for new coaches and new systems.
