While I do not totally agree with your opinion of our offseason. Based on our goals going into July versus where we are today can be a reaason for disappointment. We still do have time and trade exceptions ot make somehting happen. Let's have hope.

Side note based on what you wrote, I doubt I will have an apetite for Cold Stone ice cream for a least a month.

Hating aside, this may be actually bad news. I have to think Charlie V., given what his position on this team would be if signed, will be replacing Jones or DMo after we trade one or both in a separate deal. That we're backing out may imply we're keeping both of our young PFs. In which case there's no point in getting the guy.

I mean, Villnauva is a bad stretch 4, but he is a stretch 4. As a depth guy that's actually available on the market, he's not bad relatively speaking.

Mike Hair can play better defense than him.

Haven't been following this pursuit, but my guess is it was probably a 4 year deal or something similar. No thanks.. Glad we are not taking this guy.

Why? What would lead you to believe it was anything more then a 1 year guaranteed deal?

I'd imagine we would have offered him a contract similar to Joey Dorsey.

Not sure it means that any trades are dead, it is likely to keep roster flexibility. With only one spot remaining, someone would have to get waived if say multiple of Allen/Sessions/Okafor wanted to sign with the Rockets. The players that would be waived are the non-guranteed deals that Morey hopes to use to make the money work in a deal to make a more significant upgrade to the roster.

The Rockets "backing out" doesn't mean that there isn't still mutual interest or that there isn't a deal in principle but another move needs to be made for the signing to happen. The phrase backing out itself might be coming from an agent who isn't happy that the Rockets want his client to wait for another move to happen.

Could've been a package thing where the Rockets sign Charlie V. if they get Ray Allen.

Since they reportedly missed out on Allen, they went with their Plan B, signing Papanikoloau.

He's not that bad guys, let's be real. He's more talented than just about everyone on our bench.

He's just a numbnut, lazy, and everything else you really don't want on your team. In regards to his ability, he'd help this team if he got his attitude and work ethic straight.

Being born in Michigan raised in Houston I lived up there for the pistons 04 Title along with their loss in 05... I've followed my Hometown team all these years cuz you gotta keep it loyal...Charlie V is one of those guys along with JR Smith that you never give a long term deal...He underperformed, lost his minutes, and essentially quit on his team for the last few years of his contract...He apologized for his behavior earlier this summer, but it would definitely be an experiment bringing him to H-Town (obviously he'd be on a one year deal haha)

Decent signing at vet. min. Could contribute off the bench for all the hate he'd still be a decent stretch 4 if he came in with a good attitude. If he doesn't, cut him and lose nothing. I don't what all the fuss is about we're not gonna sign him to a long term deal.

His best season ever was 16pts/ 7rbs 34% 3fg. Don't you think T-Jones can do that this year?

So we essentially passed up on a nba veteran for another euro bench warmer. Morey doesn't learn

Why not showcase a young euro that comes with some upside and a lot of intrigue?

Who is more likely to get the Rockets something at the deadline? Is anyone going to want Villanueva in a trade package at the deadline?

I can't believe Morey was even interested in signing Villanueva. His offense doesn't come close to making up for his atrocious defense, his impact on the floor would be a negative. What was Morey thinking?
