No reason to keep Fitz in there is he plays like this. I'd rather have Case or even Savage in there. If the quarterback is gonna suck anyway, I'd rather throw Savage in there and see what his ceiling is or throw in Case who is still a bit of an unknown and can improvise
Rushing Savage could sabotage him before he has a chance. With that out of the way, the Texans need to find a vet, because Fitz played like you know who last night.
you guys seriously think they will give up on Fitz that easily? I say if he keeps playing like trash, hes gone by season Game 4
I'd hope we'd give up on him sooner if he keeps throwing picks. We don't need him to be awesome, we just need him to not turn the ball over.
That's just a knee-jerk reaction, most would have had us go after Bridgewater who looked just as bad as Savage. The only two QB's the Texans really would have considered were Bortles and Jimmy G and Bortles went too soon and Jimmy G got snatched up by the Pats unexpectedly.
If Keenum can't beat out Fitzpatrick before the start of the season, he just needs to quit football and do something else.
Manziel had a decent first preseason outing, but going 6 of 14 for 92 yards without a TD or INT and a 65.2 QB rating isn't anything to write home about. It certainly isn't anything compared to Case Keenum's first preseason game last year where he went 13 of 18 for 125 yards with a TD and no INT's and ran up a 109.7 QB rating. That said, Vince Young fans are Vince Young fans and they'll never change their minds no matter what happens. Even after he retires in a few years they'll still be going on about how Manziel is the ubermensch.
We are going to need a "Masturbate to Manziel" thread, and/or a sub forum created specifically for his worship.
I'm not sure I believe that. I think it was always decided who was going to get the first crack at it, but if Fitz keeps playing at the level he was at in the first game, I don't think he's the week one starter.
Keenum has a cult-following in Houston. He's the beneficiary of an LOF-style excuse factory as far as public opinion goes. I wish him success (but don't expect it) because that would mean success for the team.
It's more than that though, there is a segment of the Texans fanbase that has been against him from the start. Keenum has a fairly meh preseason game where he averages 5.8 yards per attempt and he's bashed for being terrible while Manziel has a meh preseason game where he averages 5.7 yards per attempt and he's talked up to be great. To be clear, I don't think Keenum will ever be a special QB, but I think there is a very good chance that he is the best QB on the roster and he'd give the team their best chance at winning. If nothing else, he protects the football a lot better than Fitz.
Keenum had the smallest rope yesterday. Watched all of our offensive snaps again this morning and I believe he only had two drives, first of which was littered with false starts, holding penalties and drops. Fitz, who was talked up all camp about how great of a grasp he had on this offense, looked abysmal for 2 quarters. Still the preseason though. We're talking up the Cardinals quarterbacks afterall.
