I didn't make an embarrassing album purchase until I was in my early teens... Korn's "Issues" and Limp Bizkit's "Significant Other"...

I had much better tastes before and after, but for some reason... they were momentarily diverted during the first couple of years of puberty...

First vinyl record was "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. I also remember getting Rockwell's debut album (mainly because it had "Someone Watching Me" on it) and "Heartbeat City" by The Cars. "Heartbeat City" might still be in my room...

The first cassette tape I got was I think a rap cassette - either The Fat Boys with "The Fat Boys Are Back" or LL Cool J's "Radio".

Believe it or not, it wasn't until the mid 90's that I bought a CD and even though I am not completely sure that this was the first purchase or not (it was up there though), I remember getting Celine Dion's "Falling Into You". There for awhile, I was like the biggest Celine fan around.

TheFreak, I kid you not, these are my 3rd and 4th albums, ever, and exactly in these formats.

Thank god for Nirvana, my musical taste was never the same after hearing "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

Kris Kross to Nirvana has to be the most inspiring segue imaginable. LOL.

What, did Patience buy his first 4 albums then go on a soul searching trek to Tibet in search of nirvana, and come back a changed man.

Either that, or he switched girlfiriends and buys albums based on their taste.

Same here, that was my first CD, I was 11 and bought it because of Men in Black

    First Cassette

I listed to what my parents listened to, and he was the country guy I liked most. My dad took me to a store and let me pick one, I was like 6 or 7.

Rock overtook country and rap when i got to high school.

There had to have been a few "transitional" albums in there, but yeah, that's awesome.

    Album or 8track?

My parents bought me several albums and 8tracks before I had a job, but the first one I bought with my own earned money was Moving Pictures. My first albums bought for me were Kiss Alive and Foreigner Double Vision on 8track.
